blank land raider

I was wondering what people would thing about a Landraider with no gun, sacrificing all firepower (maybe you can have the pintle mounted bolter) for say 20 transport (10 termies)

I just sort of realised that i often forget about my raiders once i've unloaded when i'm playing friendly games so i'm curious to see what people think

So we're not going back and forth between the threads:

- AV 13/13/11

- 36 Inches going Flat Out

- 5+ invulerable save on the Front Face

- Ability to carry 10 (yes 10) Terminators

- 18" Twin-Linked Large Blast MELTA WEAPON

- Fast Attack FOC Choice

- Around the same cost as an upgraded Storm Raven/Slightly less than a Land Raider

Those basic items of information tell me this thing is overpowered. But if you want to use it and your group is okay with it, hey, go for it.

I'd be much more okay with a Land Raider with no large weapons on it having a 20 transport capacity; if dropping the Lascannons and adding Hurricane Bolters adds 4-6 slots, dropping the sponsons and the main front weaponry should be able to bring it up to 20. And the trade off- firepower for transport capacity- essentially justifies the same points cost.

I wonder if the Homegrown Rules forum has anything like this...

Those rules are just like homegrown. They are experimental and driven by what is granted in the gaming group and/or opponent at that given time. I love the model for the assault ram, rules seem a lot of fun.

As for the blank landraider, it would seem that it might be more of a suicide type of vehicle at that point where you drive it up, unload your cargo and hope it is not disabled or blown up and your troops are stuck in a sticky mess. Though it can also work in your favor if you do the drop, get the kills, hop back in and cruise to the next victim choice.

I say give it a try and see how it plays out, because how else would anyone know what it is like?
