Wolves in the 6th ed

to me for what i have read it all reads more like Fantasy rules to me but that is just from the little bit i have been able to read of them. also i tend not to put much stock in the the stuff i read on the internet because i know there testing it and working through the rules to see how they like them or if they want to keep them at all.
Personally, I think it's too elaborate to dismiss as a hoax. Will some stuff change? Most definitely, but there's a core to the rules that I think will stay the same.

Yup

If it all were to go into print tomorrow, Thunderwolves become less exploitable, Blood Claws in all forms become even less desirable without attaching "an adult", Razorbacks and Land Raiders got better, rhinos are a wash overall, and all our vehicles become more dangerous to ourselves because of the new explosion rules. Jaws and MH both got written back to the way they worked before that stupid PSA clarification made them so controversial.

The extra weakness of bikes in CC will hurt the swiftclaws alot.

I think the skyclaws might be a little better..... being hard to shoot, faster and now everyone cant shoot before charging fixes an issue or two

Large cheap mobs of Fenrisian Wolves look promising as a support unit, since you can engage and hold a unit in combat (especially if the enemy moves in close to melta your transport and wrecks it in shooting) with some Grey Hunters and then next turn launch the wolves from 21" away for an I10 Alpha Strike.
The alpha strike rule is massive meaning seeking safety in CC may not work. against certain lists you will want to destroy units in your turn to make sure you dont get alpha striked

the ability to give wolves stubborn+ ld saga+ twc reroll might help as well.

So the newest article at BoK claims that the "leak" is fake.

I don't know, really. It's so incredibly elaborate that if GW find the guy who supposedly faked it, they should hire him on the spot.

Totally matt ward out

In with this Faker guy

i love the overwatch rule! it really helps units charging you.the new shooting rules are also really nice, finaly no more nonsense of being 3" away from a stationary tank and still missing the shot....

Love the point blank rule

Am I reading it right that you need the overwatch special rule to use it or to have bought it from strategems?

C'mon, let's just wait for it. Just clasp your paws and wait for it. I really dislike seeing leaks used in this manner :cuss do we really so badly need "the drop" on our opponents that we need to know the rules before they are even released? It won't matter in the long run because I sure as hell in the act of fairness not play someone who I think doesn't know the rules as well as they should and that this should give them a disadvantage. Likewise, I would not play someone who is jumping up and down to play because the already know the rules and I've just barely skimmed them. I don't care if these are fake it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth pre-preparing like this. I don't like it when people know things and take pride in this security that they feel will enable them to win. It doesn't result in fun games. Just a sense one is being cheated ;)
Well i know one positive these "6th edition" rules will have.

It will finally be the last nail in the DA "special" armies.

Death to all DA! ... >.> i mean look Inquisitor, those robe wearing freaks are running off after that speck of dust. HERESY!

We will see they are rumoured to one first lists out in 6th. But there are a lot of rumours....

Thats boring ;)

Using rumours to plan ahead is dangerous and foolish after all they could be wrong...fun to chat about and see what you like though.

Er... sorry mate but that's a complete non-sense. The "leak" was (and probably still is) available on the internet for EVERYONE to download. Reading it is just a matter of curiosity, there is no way we could get some sort of unfair advantage from it. On the contrary - by spreading the knowledge of it, we can help those less informed to know what we know and thus eliminate any advantage that could be gained by someone who'd keep such information for himself.

If you don't want to feel at a disadvantage, just read it. If you don't want to bother reading it, you've got no reason to complain.

Word is spreading around that this is, in fact, a hoax. In the BT subforum someone mentioned the owner of the GW store they go to showed him an email in the past day from HQ in England stating unequivocally the leak is a hoax.

printscreen of said mail or it didn't happen!

the thing i find most exciting would be those stratagems, there are a lot of fun ones in them and it gives GW a wa to sell more of their terrain pieces. because if it's true and you've already bought a table full of citadel scenery you might just want to buy some extra bastion etc incase you want to field the stratagem without placing less terrain pieces then you normally would

All I'll say is, if it's a hoax GW will say it's a hoax. If it's real, GW will say it's a hoax.

If it is a hoax, they need to hire whoever did it though, because they made 40k fun again with these rules.

Agree completely. The thing is, these are so well done (although some additional polishing is required), that almost everyone in the entire 40K gaming community is going to be super-pissed if the real 6th Edition isn't at least in the ball park. I could seriously see folks (like me) saying to hell with the 'legitimate' rules. GW will catch serious hell for it if a couple blokes with Adobe Pro can pull off a better game system than their corporation can.

Yup I love how virtually every rule has a title making it easy to reference and apply to things simply. I really hope this is the future.....

Hoping to have a game or two with these rules to try them out.

If it is a hoax its better than GW efforts so far and i could see it being the basis of a fan rule set like netepic. I really hope that this just part of GW party line till 6th come out(and is a play test doc) because otherwise this has really high set GW a standard to meet

We've had talk among the players of my FLGS of playing some games with these rules and seeing how it goes. There are some things that raise an eyebrow, but these rules would turn the stagnant game of today on its head for sure.

Time will tell, but I'm cautiously optimistic that this is the future of 40k, in spite of what GW would have me believe.

I just had a thought. Say whoever did this got wind of what 6th Ed. was really going to be like, thought it was crap and made up their own variation based on what that person/s thought would be fun. This could be less of a hoax more of a hijack. Now forced with all this generally positive feedback for these rules that GW have no intention putting into 6th, they are now forced to look at it from a fan perspective not a cash making one. Valerian's comments are also an accurate picture of what would happen if 6th doesn't ring to the tine of what players want. AlthoughI thought GW were determined to make 40k as simple to play as possible, looking at the rules trend.

I've wanted some complexity back into the game for a while, now. That would be good.

While my Space Pups frown a bit at these rules (and now I need to play test with them in this new rules set), but Elysian AirCav Guard are loving it. Having basically an entire army of fliers made legal...and with the Gunship rule = delicious.

Vendettas can now move 6" and technically fire all 3 TLLC at different targets (use 3 shooting "points" to shoot each gun, then use the last 3 points to shoot at different things).

These rules open up some interesting new possibilities.

mabe if gw will give the stormraven to the other PA army's, i can see it now ^_^

my puppie's flying in to battle in that thing.

wish full thinking i guess, but maby(praying to russ it will)

greets

i think the messed up because they have the assault phase going before the shooting phase and that just don't seem right to me.

Perhaps you're just not long enough in the tooth!

Fundamental turn order changes are rare but not unprecedented. In 2nd Ed you couldn't shoot before assaulting because you actually moved into assault in the Move phase, you didn't role the dice to resolve close combat until after the shooting was done but the assault was initiated, the units locked in combat and unable to shoot, before the Shooting phase. This would partly be reversing one of the major changes introduced in 3rd Ed.

I agree that at first reading it sounds too radical but the more I think about it the more I think it could be real.
