starhawks
I like the scheme a lot, I'm a long time space wolves fan...how did you do the chips on the armor? and do you think it would work well on a dark yellow color?

Ah-a-nothepsis
Yes, that shield is absolutely crazy. Chaos marauder horseman head from Fantasy?
Blackmane
thanks all. @Starhawks: the theory of scrathes is shown in this thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=194055 , but the colours used here are: charadon granite for the scratch-1/1 with shadow grey to create shallow dents. 1/2 shadow/space wolf grey for the highlights(though I use the Vallejo equivalents for my armour basecolour). add a tiny SW highlight for deeper larger scratches. If it is a large scratch I put a thin shade of brown ink in the scratch. And remember that painted-on icons are scratched in the base colour. As for dark yellow: aye I would say, and Me thinks the charadon will work just as fine. My yellow was highlighted in bone, but if darker I would start with something like a yellow/sand like the OLD gw bubonic brown. Oh and I didn't 'sponge' on this model as it is harder to control than a brush. @Ah-A: Aye it is a marauder horseman head. it is a bit small and took a blob of gs to get stuck but I was too lazy to sculpt braids aaaand I had it lying around. Btw the shield is a Chaos warrior one with the star removed and the hand swapped for a stormshield ditto
