My Vow:

5x Ghost Knights

5x Interceptors

1x Callidus Assassin

This is a very basic and quick WIP of the Ghost Knights to get things kicked off. They're currently primed and ready for some blue. Bases are taped so I can paint them differently when I'm done. If I were smart (and there's plenty of debate on that) I would have just pinned them to the resin bases so I could remove for painting. Perhaps I'll do that with the next batch.

The Interceptors are currently primed as well but the picture from my phone was rather dark so I'll need to take a better one with the regular camera. The Callidus is sitting in some simple green while I get her new base ready. A quick WIP of those groups to follow shortly.

The current color scheme plan is as follows but subject to some change:

1:1 Astronomicon White/SW Grey

1:1 SW Grey/Shadow Grey (as a wash)

Asurmen Blue Wash

That should give a fairly "ghostly" base for me to work with. I have a test model I used and it turned out ok. I'm torn on a color compliment for the blue. I'm currently leaning towards making the force weapons, engravings, writing on purity^ seals, and glow eyes some color of orange. But just today I thought about working in some green for a most "ghostly" feel. Haven't decided just yet so I'm sure my test model will get some more action tonight.

More to follow in the next day or so.

Quick update (sorry for the picture quality. I really will get my real camera out soon!).

Grey Knights Stage 2:

This is the first time I've ever used an airbrush and I was happy with the results. I don't really have any skill with it yet and I feel a bit heavy handed but I'll learn. I've put on a coat of 1:1 Shadow Grey/Space Wolves Grey and then a quick wash of Asurmen blue. That being said, I don't think I'll be using the airbrush for washing again since I tended to blow around more wash than anything else.

I was happy with the results but they did come out darker than my test model for some reason. I've decided my next step will be either a 1:1 Shadow Grey/Bone White or Skull White and built up with that until I get an interesting ghost effect. Highlights will be done with some combo of bone white and skull white. I've nixed the idea for orange because I didn't feel like it says, "ghostly" to me and instead will be coming up with some recipe for a green.

Here is a quick stage 2 WIP

Last I have a quick image of the Callidus and the set of bases I intend to use with her.

Quick update: No pics tonight because its too dark to take any.

I've got my interceptors through several layers up to Boltgun now. Using the airbrush is remarkably easy and truly speeds of the tedious duties of building colors. The nice smoothness of the layers is amazing. I'll probably give them a wash in either Badab Black or Asurman Blue before I post some shots of them.

The Ghost Knights got put on hold because I ran out of shadow blue. I'll pick some up this evening and start to lighten them up tomorrow or Sunday.

Big Update.

Ghost Knights:

I had a minor disaster with my airbrush when the nozzel for the airbrush came unscrewed and the layer of Shadow Grey/Icy Blue/White I was spraying went on very uneven. I believe I can fix it but putting another light layer of it on but I didnt have time before I left on a business trip.

Next up for the Ghost Knights is a light layer of Icy Blue/White and then on to highlights and the green for eyes and other parts. All in all I think they look pretty nice but I'm not sure they really look like ghosts.

Interceptors:

These got a base coat of black primer followed by a layer of 1:1 Chaos Black/Boltgun. I then applied a layer of Boltgun. I think they came out grey and I've very happy with the even layers and how they look. Next up is a wash of blue into the recessed armor areas and then an overall wash of Badab Black. Then I'll probably work another layer of Boltgun and Mithril followed by hightlights and the all the important colors.

I've completed the glow effect for the eyes and the recessed armor/engravings. The only thing required now is to outlook the glow which I'll take care of tomorrow. It seems I got a little overzealous with my airbrush and coated some of the shoulder pads too heavily which resulted in a lose of detail. I really tried to save it as best as I could but my painting skills aren't enough to do it. However, I'm still proud of the effect since this is my first ever attempt at an implied light source (or whatever you want to call it).

I'm open to suggestions on whether the blades of the halberds should be green as well. I was thinking that maybe it would be too much if they were green also.

All the remains are the outline glow, highlighting of the blue, and finish the bases up. I would truly appreciate some thoughts, tips, advice or whatever.

Enjoy the photos!

Here is a shot of how I intended my the shoulder pads to com out. I executed this one fairly well and the engravings are very clear (at least in real life):

Here is a shot of a heavily coated shoulder pad. The lose of detail is pretty clear. Unfortunately more often than not on these five guys it came out like this.

Let me know what you guys think.

Quick Update. I've completed the full glow effect. I've achieved what I set out to accomplish with these guys but I'm not sure it really works that well. I would love to hear some C&C!
