Olgerth Istaarn
There are two bits on Baal sprue I cannot figure out what for. They are a matching set (the little cowling is shifted, it's like they are meant to go on two sides of something). But as Alice in Wonderland said, on one side of what and the other side of what. I looked at many pictures of Baal Predators online, and I cannot see where they go. I also do not have instructions because I bought the upgrade sprue from thewarstore.com. Here is a picture. Could someone please tell me where the damn thing goes? http://i39.tinypic.com/2hmlx85.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245139-what-is-this/ Share on other sites
Razblood
http://store.miniwargaming.com/images/D/blood-angels-baal-predator-hjpip.jpg From the looks of it these are engine vents which fit on either side of the back end as this pic shows. Olgerth Istaarn
Huh, I never thought, but it totally makes sense. There are vents on the Rhino hull there and these do cover them perfectly. Thank you! donnyb
The baal is the only tank that gets them, so easy enough not to know where they go!~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245139-what-is-this/#findComment-2965169 Share on other sites
Watcher in the Dark
Overcharged engine upgrade I would assume. Red ones go faster eh? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245139-what-is-this/#findComment-2965247 Share on other sites
Yourius
I always thought they were the ejection ports for the spent cartridges for the Twin-linked Assault-cannons. TennisBall
http://store.miniwargaming.com/images/D/blood-angels-baal-predator-hjpip.jpg From the looks of it these are engine vents which fit on either side of the back end as this pic shows. I'd place the vents so they were facing towards the back (the ones in the picture are facing forward), not much point having forward facing vents when the heat or whatever is going to be blown back anyway. Watcher in the Dark
I always thought they were the ejection ports for the spent cartridges for the Twin-linked Assault-cannons. The armored sheath that fits around the TACs already has ports to allow for spent shells to fall out. I'd place the vents so they were facing towards the back (the ones in the picture are facing forward), not much point having forward facing vents when the heat or whatever is going to be blown back anyway They aren't exhaust vents though, they are intakes for the turbos! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245139-what-is-this/#findComment-2967318 Share on other sites

chromedog
Extra cooling intakes for the drive wheels/tracks. Race versions of production cars often have extra intake venting where road cars have fog-lights/driving lights and low scoops for the rear, to cool the running gear (you don't want your tyres getting too hot or they'll provide too much traction, and with the BA super charged engines, I'd imagine the running gear gets a bit hotter than normal. The hotter metals get, the easier it is to get them to fail. Track links, gears, whatever. Even ad-hoc cooling is better than nothing.
