Taz
I decided this year I've set myself a fairly lofty goal. Last year, I only painted a single mini, though it was a damn fine one, which has earned me no small amounts of compliments, as well as it's fair share of glory on the tabletop over the course of the year since the last LPC. My project for this year encompasses not only two detailed single models, but also a pair of vehicles as well, incorporating freehand across the hulls if I can manage to make it look decent. My goal, by the end of March, is 1 Astorath the Grim 1 Mephiston, Lord of Death 1 Death Company Rhino and 1 Land Raider Crusader with Multi Melta The task Close up of Mephy. I did some work on his reds already, and prelim stuff for his face, which is why he looks so clownish currently. Sorry for the shoddy pics, still trying to get my hands on a digital camera of my own. Future updates will hopefully be better quality. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update 1 I did indeed get my hands on a digital cam, and I've managed to make some decent progress on my vow! Here's my first update: Astorath: Mephiston: DC Rhino: Plus Meph's backpack: The whole gang, sans LRC, which I haven't made any progress on to date: If I can actually finish my vow now that my Death Company are complete, I'm buying myself my first stormraven. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update 2 A decent amount of progress. The Rhino just needs the final reds done, then some highlighting on the bone and blacks and details to be done. If I focus on it to the exclusion of all else I'll be able to finish it in a couple hours, I think. I'm trying for a white marble look. Basically a slow fade from dheneb stone to white. The white needs one last coat or two, then it'll be perfect. I wanted my Astorath to have a bit of a spectral look to him, hence the pasty face and white hair. The bone needs a final highlight. Inside/outside views of the wings. I wanted to try something different, and have his wings look more like owl feathers, and a friend of mine sent me a picture of a horned owl, and their wings are darker outside than in. Mephiston. Face, hair, and the blues are done. That includes the robe/outer cape, eyes and plasma pistol. I'm not exactly pleased with how the eye glow turned out, but the paint's starting to get a little thick on the details on the face, I try to hard I'm gonna lose the eyes entirely and short of stripping the mini my options become limited at that point. PROGRESS: Unit | Status Astorath INCOMPLETE Mephiston INCOMPLETE Rhino INCOMPLETE LRC INCOMPLETE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245154-tazs-lpc-2012-project/ Share on other sites

Black_Sky
Looking good. I really like Bone Astorath and the blue mephiston "skirt". I still have to get over the ending of me3 and start doing something productive.
