Warrior Acolytes with Stormbolters

I'm planning of fielding a unit of Inq. Henchmen composed mostly of 3 Warrior Acolytes with Meltaguns & 6 or 7 Warrior Acolytes with Stormbolters & 2 Jokaero Weaponsmiths.

Would the unit be best left as themselves only or should I add an Ind. Char. with them?

An Inquisitor with Psyocculum seems fun, is lurking at the back of my head...

That’s a tricky question… If you want to get the most out of a Psyocculum I would suggest switching the melta Henchmen for Heavy Bolter or Plasma Servitors. Just running 3 melta acolytes and some extras for additional wounds in a Rhino is a good option, but using them with Jokaeros is a little iffy. The jokaeros can only fire heavy flamers on the move and acolytes with Plasma ore flamers would be a better combo with that.
I think the squad would benefit from the improved save and the inv save as well though not as much as the increased ranged and rending. I've looked at the similar configurations, my biggest problem so far is how expensive the jokaero are and I'm not that big a fan of their models either.

I'd switch to plasma if you are including Jokero in the squad, as staying stationary will allow you to shoot 24" with the plasma and stormbolters. Melta generally will need to be on the move to get most effectiveness, which will also lose you the jokero shooting abilities.

I use these models: MicroArt Servants for an Admech feel and a generally less ridiculous look.

I ran 3 melt a acolytes, 2 weapon smiths, cotiez and SB acolyts in a chimera in a 5 way and killed a carnifex on the tyranid turn with it coming in within 12" of the unit. 2 lazcannons and 3 melta shots brought it down to 1 wound with "I've been expecting you" then when it charged, it failed its dangerous terrain test when it charged after cotiez droped Sanctuary.

I ran my acolytes as SoB in power armor and I ended with +1 armour from the weapon smiths and the 2+ armour was awesome.
