Dosjetka
Lovely work, mate :( Are you thinking of painting any troops any time soon, or have you done those already? -_- Ludovic
The Sound of Machines
Mate your models look amazing - seriously, the armour, the metallics the works - just AWESOME! I have to say though, the skin is really off-putting. It's 1% really taking away from the wicked awesome paint work on the 99% of the model. But yeah, thanks for posting the pics - I love them!! Brother Sgt. Steine
Thank you Brothers. @Furioso: Thanks man! I appreciate that... @BBL: Hey appreciate that Brother Ludovic. Good question, I have plans to dig into a 10 man Sternguard, a 10 man Vanguard, 10 man Tac Squad, 10 man Termie squad, and two 6 man assualt squads, probably get to these next year though... Trying to get Elite, special characters, and HQ done first. I started hoarding metal models in 2010 after I knew GW was going to stop making metal castings. TSOM: I appreciate your comments and critique. Any suggestions for improving the depth of my skin tones? Admittedly, I struggle with getting my washes to settle in the creases of the face properly. Also, my camera continues to wash out a lot of my photos, the skin tones do look a bit better in person. Still, any quick tips would be appreciated... My paint list as of right now looks like this: Chaplain Cassius (WIP now/ all metal) Chaplain on Bike (metal/ plastic) 25th Anniversary Model (Finecast/ converted to Ultramarine) Legion Champion and Master of the Signal (Resin/Forgeworld) Calgar and Honor Guard (all metal boxed set) Ultramarine Rhino doors (front/back) Ultramarine Landraider doors (full set) Thanks again Brothers... The Sound of Machines
I hope you took my comments well mate, I certainly DO NOT want to be offensive - I just think it's a small part taking away from the rest of the work, which is totally amazing. I have NEVER seen a UM army that I liked - until this one. As for skin, well, there's a few ways to do it. For a standard skin tone, I'd go Tallarn Flesh for the basecoat - this is a foundation colour and will give a strong base to work from. Then mix in a little Dheneb Stone for a rough highlight, then just a thin Dheneb highlight on the upper most regions. Wash with Ogryn Flesh and then a little Devlan Mud in the eyes/mouth, just to darken it a little. By thinning the highlights, you are letting more of the basecoat show through. That's just the way I do it - the wash isn't to shade as the details on a face are generally too shallow to take a wash well. The wash is there to smooth out the highlights. If I may post a pic, I get this result from the above: http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/ss222/DerekStrontium/Space%20Wolves/005-1.jpg If you don't like that skin tone, then don't follow the steps! :cuss. PS> I've given the old GW names, as I know those colours, but you can use any of the equivalents. Luke
