Weekend challenge

DemonReaper

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, me.... again ^_^

So after stripping and re assembling my 2 squads they are primed and ready to go, i have changed my plan for using gryponne sepia wash o use devlan mud, think it gives a good dirty look to the deathwing armour... but enough talking heres the pics.

I use the gryphonne sepia wash myself after priming my models, you can see the results by clicking the LPC link in my signature. I must say though that devlan mud looks pretty good too.

Have you made a pledge yet in the 2012 Librarium Painting Challenge thread? We need all the help we can get to claim this years prize.

A nice little mini challenge for me to get my arse in gear, I'll think I'll take you up on that Demonreaper!

Seeing as I really need to get a move on for the LPC, I want to have all my terminators built by this weekend. I was going to say I'll have them primed as well, but after seeing your results with white primer and devlan mud, I think I might wait until Wednesday when I can get some white primer.

I think I'll also prime and start to paint my recently built rhinoback, I'm still waiting to magnetise the weapons though.

Ahhh ya like it do ya Tengo haha :P glad ya like it brother, i am guessing you will be painting the layer on after the wash and not drybrushing (ya got a little more experince than me) i think if i could do it, it would like alot better and shaper but drybrushing give a nice dirty look so i am happy for that for my first army ;).

i dont know how to make a pledge Kovash mate, give me the detials of what i have to do i would be happy to enter 2 squads in for the Rock :).

And with regards to my Belial Sharp i do agree with you there, i might snap him off the base and add somthing underneath to make him that bit bigger... but the GW lads suggested him and he cost £15 so i wasnt not going to use him... but he will do for now i think.

Lets get some pics of up them termies Tengo i love the battle damage your putting on would love to see the army together this weekend aswell mate ^_^

And to everyone else here at B&C lets get some graft done :P

Thanks, Adam

Yeah mate, I might use your method and do a little blending with Dheneb and bleached bone, I'm really not too sure how I'm gonna do it yet, gotta play around with a few things I think!

I really like the dirty look, I've been trying to get a slightly more brown version of that for ages.

That's the link to make a pledge, read the first post and it'll explain everything, I'm sure you can get two squads of deathwing done by the end of march no problem!

I'll try to get some pictures up of 100% assembled termies up by the end of the week

dhenab stone isnt a good idea mate i tryed it over a devan mud wash last night i only did the back and it turned up a sort of cream puple shade... didnt look good. i spose if you add 1:1 bleached bone it might look nice mate, but if you want a browner deathwing, heavy wash is what i put on for that pic, i mean... HEAVY lol.

Will post the pledge in the morning mate, i am bushed at the mo, been painting since like half 1 this afternoon, and i am up to the drybrush stage ready for first thing tommorow... didnt know 25 termies could be so much work lol.

Thanks, Adam

ANNNNNND.... My belial (ran out of primer haha)

Question, what is the base model that you used for your Belial conversion?

I used Grey knights Brother Captin Stern for my Belial mate, and yeh tengo just tread carfully with that pal, i think it might have been coz i drybrushed it over a really really heavy mud wash... that might be why as it was was a thin layer it may have come across purple but it it is painted on you will be fine i am sure as its foundation not acrylic.

Got me some progress done already!

Finished assembling my second squad of Deathwing, given them some battle damage, and finished cleaning up mould lines and tidying the battle damage across both squads.

Now I've just got to go through all the trinkets on the sprue, work out which I'm saving for my Belial conversion, and then doll up the terminators with icons, scrolls and other fancy bitz.

I've also primed an old unit of termies that have been sitting on my desk for a while. They're not part of the LPC, so I'll spend this weekend testing out my paint scheme on them, when I'm done, I'll be sure to share my recipe and try to post some pics if I can!

For now, all I can say is, a little bit of black primer, and plenty of patience when it comes to carefully painting on a few thin layers of Dheneb stone seems to be doing the trick, I'm loving the contrast of leaving the joints and vents black. I might go old school and wash with some trusty old Chestnut ink.

If I'm happy with the outcome, I'll have both squads of termies for the LPC primed and ready for (painting) action before the weekend is over!

I was going to start painting my rhinoback, but forgot that I'm waiting to obtain an airbrush first (á la recommendation du Stobz) Still, I might prime and paint the interior...

We shall see, only time will tell!

ok fellas, its monday. Lets have an update on everyones progress over the weekend :(

Mine - 24 terminator squads up to completed armour stage, 4 more need dry brushing, and 3 terminators completed (without decals)

will post pictures after wook this evening.

Cheers, Adam ;)

Howdy B&C!

I just wanted to show y'all what I've been working on over the weekend. I apologize for the terrible picture quality but I have horrible lighting (I paint a lot under a LED) and I need to get going to work. I will try to take much better pictures this evening (maybe at a club member's house) and give you guys a lot more to look at.

In short, you've got 3 Razorbacks in front of you and 5 Terminators. Two of the Razorbacks still need shading, highlights, and small details in various places (such as the lights and the gunners) but are nearing completion. The third Razorback is intentionally in that state because I've trying to get someone new into the game and they asked if they could help me assemble and paint it.

The Deathwing squad is only base coated with no details whatsoever. I'm still waiting for the Narthecium to come in for the Apothecary and I need to give the Standard Bearer his left shoulder pad and a special storm shield.

That's it. Sorry for the poor quality pictures. Like I said I'll get more hopefully this evening.

*edit* Oh yeah, I almost forgot! Ignore the Dreadnought and the Trygon (Steve) in the back. I'll show you more close up pictures of all these models later.
