Hail brothers

I have always wanted to run a wolves army and now is the time :)

Now this is where I need help I want to build the 13th grand company why because I love werewolves now I need to know what units I can use Is it right they have no tanks or transports? What about dreads or termies? I remember reading in Eye of Terror dex that they use the pre heresy colours if so which greys should i use?. Also which dex should i use i have the wolves dex and chaos dex.

My plan is to use a true scale methods to build the wulfen so there will be the size difference between them and the brothers who haven't yet succumb to the curse i have loads of chaos bits so i can mix up the armour as they would have to scavagen replacement armour from slain enemies.

One last question are there any novels or fluff i should. Read before i start this project.

Many thanks Loken

Welcome to the Fang!

the only machines you can use are bikes.

My advice would be do a "lost" company,I know you said you wanted to do 13th with Wulfen but you will lose alot if you follow the 13th guidelines.Make a "lost" Comapny and have some Wulfen and use BloodClaw stats, thats my advice

Welcome to the Fang whelp! Have an ale on me, make sure to visit the Inglorious Brawlers thread.

As for 13th company, there are several ways to do it.

1. Some people still use the old Eye of Terror codex within their gaming groups. Its fun, but dated and can't be used in tournaments. Not recommended.

2. Wulfen as bloodclaws. Like Greenhorn suggested, you can always use bloodclaws to represent wulfen, but some people don't think that quite captures the ferocity of the beasties.

3. Mark of the Wulfen heavy lists. Some people just stick a MotW on every unit that can take it to represent the 13th. It could work, but has the same problem as #2.

4. Wulfen as TWC. Some people either stick one big werewolf model or a couple of smaller ones on the appropriate sized base and use the Thunderwolf cavalry rules. Personally one of my favorite ideas, though I haven't done it yet.

5. Homebrew codex. We have recently revived the Fang's version of Codex: 13th Company; you can see the link at the top of the forum page. While not finished, the Codex as it Stands thread is fun and you can be a part of writing and correcting it. The downside is its not usable in tournaments.

Agian, welcome!

welcome to the fang whelp!

i've made a topic a while ago named "understanding the curse of the wulfen", it contains a lot of quotes from all the published works about wulfen and the curse of the wulfen so far. you might discover that the wulfen are far away from werewolves, unable to get back to "human" standards. i think it'll be a great way to understand what exactly the 13th company finds itself dealing with.

*knocks Lokens elbow while he's about to drink, spilling his mead down his front*

Welcome brother. Your in the right place to get your questions answered, your tankard filled and maybe a few teeth knocked out in the name of fun

Try not to take comments to heart. The older greys get grouchy between maps.

*gives Hendrik a wink while checking for others sneaking in*

:smacks forte upside the head:

How's that for grouchy, upstart whelp! Don't go teaching the new lad any of your bad habits, you hear?

me grumpy, nevah! you should just ask gilford!

what i meant by my comment was that a wulfen is far from a thing like our typical hollywood werewolf if that's what really drew him to the space wolves and it might dissapoint him a bit once he learns you can't go back (unless ofcourse you're bran redmaw :P ) to become a normal space marine ;)

@ Arez thanks for the advice and the welcome brother.

@ eyeslikethunder Thanks for the welcome and the Mead is excellent :P

@ Jonas Stromclaw Im liking option 4 now would you have the Wulfen holding their weapons or just tell your openantes what each has?

Oh brain wave how about having the weapons lying on the TWC base with scraps of amour showing that the battle brother has just turned?

@ hendrik thanks for the welcome brother your topic on the Wulfen will help me alot think i've read it through six times now also i never liked how hollywood made the werewolves look i've always liked the idea of when you turned to wolf you stay like it why would you want to turn back human anyway :D

@ forte *wipes the mead from his face and watches as Jonas Stromclaw aproaches forte laughs as Jonas Stromclaw smacks forte upside the head turns picks up another flaggon of mead*

Thanks for the welcome Forte

I will try and make a army list and let you older wolves give me your opinions ;).

Can't decide on a HQ does anyone know what wargear Bolvye uses?

Im also tempeted to build a Wulfen version of Canis Wolfborn

What do you think all advice welcomed

many thanks Loken

For my idea i dont think i was clear what i meant (sry) use what ever models you like for Wulfen but use Blood Claw stats. But now i see Jonas's idea i think i have to use it

Can i use you idea Loken?

Fine by me brother which idea is it you like? I look forward to seeing how yours come out.

 :D

At the end of the day it's your army, model it how you want. That being said, some people can be true sticklers for WYSIWYG, so representing the wargear somewhere on the model/base is an excellent idea. It also makes sure you don't lose track of who has what, which could be embarrassing in the middle of a match

Definitely put up an army list so we can have a look.

Aye, welcome to the Fang little brother! *slides Mjod over* Drink up and have a seat!

If I were you, I would:

Use Bran Redmaw's rules to have a werewulf-en HQ

Add MoTW to as many units as possible

Run Large wulfen as TWC as for mentioned

And I would also run Lone Wolves as SW's who have just lost their packs and letting the Wulfen take over

Just how I would run it personally.

May your blade stay wet with blood of your enemies and your drinking horn never run dry! For Russ and the Allfather!

{grumbles about new pups crowding the place up................}

Oh, welcome to the place by the way.......

Hahaha, I thought that feeling had passed after the first wave came in with the new 'dex.

Anyways, welcome to the Fang!!! The most enjoyable place in the B&C.
