Ash Dragons. Madness.

I am liking your fluff, my chapter and yours can draw certain similarities. My companies all act independently and have Sternguard and Vanguard veterans in the main companies. Hopefully you will inspire me to start my own WIP here, can't wait to see your progress :)

The main reason for their close connection to the Forgeworld ( I really need to come up with a name for it someday ), is that I wanted to get more plasma weapons into the army, but the fluff for the standard chapter is that they misstrust plasma tech since it is not a weapon favored by Vulkan. So they are more like sisters of battle. Bolter, Flamer and Melta.

And it explains why I have 3 fellblades in the chapter... One stormlord, one shadowsword and a custom format.

Plus I like how it goes with the Salamander forge mentality, they should be more prone to that type of "faith" than the average marine ( iron hands being the worst...)

I am liking it Brother! Nothing that breaks the fluff or anything. My chapter too has access to big toys but we recovered them after a battle and forgot to give them back to the AdMech and have a shaky relationship with them at best ^_^

What colour scheme are you going for?

I try to stay "within bounds" of the fluff. I go against the standard, but not outside the realm of what could be. So no 5000 marine chapter, or that they have their own titans etc.

As for colour schemes they are

Terminators

Standard scheme

Sternguards are marked by full robes (DA Vet models)

Vanguard Objective ( Vanguards have white face-masks and tabbards, althought the obj has a halfrobe due to the entire lower body being greenstuff ).

Same here really, my two titans were going to be part of my chapter but I realised that would be a bit silly so I'll have to make a small Ad Mech army at some point.

That banner in the Terminator unit, just wow! That's one amazing paint job, I am really digging your scheme. I cannot wait to see more!

Went over a batch of AoBR marines. I like them, but I hate having row after row of exactly the same pose. So after cutting off the arrow on the shoulder, I took off their heads.

A quick round with the drill, a new head, and bam. Decent looking marines.

Normal helmets

Beakies

Bare heads

And "knight" helmets, these I leave alone, as they are awesome

The pile of cut-off heads, and shavings from the drill (what was on the table, there's even more on the floor)

Just those simple head swaps make them look so much better, I'm a big fan of beakie helmets, absolutely love them! Shame we can't do anything with our shavings etc, I'll have masses of sprue's once I am done and all will have to go in the recycling bin.

My hat comes off to you for having a near chapter full of marines, makes me slightly glad the Crimson fist were reduced to only just under 200 marines :tu:

the paint shceme looks really good too.

Nice head-swaps, brother. Keep those off-cuts, use 'em for terrain and basing. Even if you have to chop it up more, it's useful. I sweep my snippets and flecks into my sand box, keep it full of odd little pieces. ;)

Last night was a night of pure ozone destruction. 185 marines primed. And a dread.

Mainly bolter marines, about 30 spec weapons, and some heavy.

Assault marines are next to be repaired and primed (and I need more primer...)

1.5 cans of GW primer later....

Haha, the fumes are half the fun, gets the... creativity.. going.

I am VERY thankful that I'm doing a part-black scheme, Ironhands would be a dream to do, but the green isn't that bad (I keep telling myself).

The dread is an experiement. I have about 15 dreads, so I've done a few different CCW on them. I'll see how it looks once it's painted, if I don't like it I'll go back to a normal dread hand instead.

For the BR marines, just cut off the head at the throat or collar with a wirecutter, then use a drill to make the hole for the neck. I like to do mine a little deeper than GWs standard, as I think their heads stick up a little too far normaly.
