captain sox
Hi folks, Just sitting down to plan my first list with Dark Angels! Woot! reading through the various threads on this board, I've come across an interesting question. What can the Apothecary take as weapons? Can he take a Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon, etc? I've seen many people load him up with Dual Lightning Claws and was wondering if that was even allowed? Does he not need to have the Narth/Reducer in one arm? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks. By the way, I plan to run my army with a heavy amount of Terminators, with a few bikes / Typhoons here and there. No other vehicles or troop types. Cactus
Both the apothecary and standard upgrade can be given to any model in the squad, so yes he can carry any available weapons. There are no actual rules about needing hands to use the narthecium and there are ways to model it hands-free. I used Fabius Bile's chirurgeon for mine, an idea I shamelessly swiped from somebody on this forum. I'd credit them if I could remember who it was! http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb440/Cactus-/20120107_144404.jpg?t=1326625274 The arms are magnetised so I retain the flexibility without having to build half a dozen terminator apothecaries. However TH/SS are the only arms I've made so far! Tengo
Yes, you give the terminator the weapons you want, and then upgrade him with a Narth/Reduct. they are not weapons, but supplementary equipment, almost like frag grenades or melta bombs. The Double Lightning claw termy just suits the apothecary look more I guess. captain sox
Man, this is why I was drawn to the DA. Termies are awesome. I'm planning to put an assault cannon on my apothecary. Sweetness! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245308-dw-apothecary-what-weapons/#findComment-2967824 Share on other sites
lost_angel
FYI - One of the servitors that comes with the Black Templar Chaplain Grimaldus has an drill/chainsaw arm that doubles as an excellent Narth. I'me in the middle of attaching to my ravenwing apoth's backpack. Chaplain Lucifer
Although it's awesome to put a heavy weapon on the apothecary, I advise against "all eggs in one basket" Losing an apothecary and a heavy weapon in one fell swoop is hard. Just saying. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245308-dw-apothecary-what-weapons/#findComment-2967832 Share on other sites
captain sox
Oh yeah? Thats good advice, thanks. Being new and extremely excited about DA, I'm interested to know if many of you put other heavy weapons on your terminators. I know the CML is a must but what about the HF and AC? Tengo
I give a HF to any assault termy squads, and a CML to tactical termies, the AC is kinda rendered a bad choice for its points cost by the changes to rending in the 5th edition rules And extremely excited about the DA? of course you are!
