Bark with me if you're my dog

Hey I'm new to Space Wolves as I've been trying out some other armies and then took a break from 40k. I had no idea that Space Wolves were so awesome but I found out after the latest codex "mistakenly" walked over to my house from my friend's. I didn't have any choice but to read it.

And it was good :P

*drools all over keyboard*

It's what I've always wanted:

A team that has some proper fluff that isn't stuck up. It's like the complete opposite of Ultramarines.

Thank God Space Wolves had a Codex written by someone with a real brain.

Anyway I need some help on finding a few starter sets that would help for a Space Wolf n00b like me.

Thanks,

Trake

Welcome to the Fang!

Grab an Ale and listen to some tales

And the Codex was written by someone with a brain but whoever modeled and took pictures of the units in it must've been shot with a lasgun or something cause they screwed up in some spots.

any way a good starter set would be the Space Wolves Battleforcea and a Predator magnetized so you can make it into a Rhino or Razorback when needed.

Aye, welcome to the Fang little brother! *slides Mjod over* Drink up and have a seat!

My recommendations for a starter like yourself would be:

-Rule book, Codex, etc

-2x SW Battle Forces (Make 40 grey hunters, 2 Drop Pods, and 10 scouts)

-Rune Priest (either by GW one or kitbash one)

-2 or more transports of your liking to get those Grey Hunters to the killing grounds quicker

-Long Fangs (2 or more squads. Missile Launchers are a great all round choice)

These are what I consider the meat of a Space Wolves army. Grey Hunters, Rune Priests, Long Fangs.

After that, you can add or take away to fit it to your style. Whether it be add some Terminators or TWC or Swiftclaws etc etc.

no point for the rule book since 6th is coming out soon

agreed

i say get a Predator kit magnetized to go to rhino or razorback when needed

longs fangs-magnetize the arms

Grabs the Mjod.*Drinks mjod* Don't you have something a bit stronger?

Thanks for the tips (and mjod). You guys saved me a lot of time and money :)

The Predator/Rhino thing sounds like a good idea and I'll be using forte's idea of using 1 SW Battleforce and a SM Battleforce instead of 2x SW battleforces to get some diversity. So hopefully I can get enough money for all of this stuff, but until then I can drool as I take a look at the models on the site.

Thanks again.

If you just want a small force to get started get a SW pack box and a tactical marine box, that'll give you 20 power armored units. You could make grey hunters x15 then make a Rune Priest to lead them or buy the actual runepriest then make 20 hunters.
