New FAQ's

Lots and lots of new FAQ's just came out.

We have this

Page 27 – Ravenwing Combat Squads, second paragraph

Change to “Much like Combat squads, the squadron’s

Attack Bike and Land Speeder are purchased together

with the squadron and then deployed at the same time

as the squadron’s bikes, but from then on, they always

operate as completely independent units of one model.”

So no more scoring speeders and the attack bike only scores if taken as a troop.

Also a clear answer to can units coming in from reserve Combat Squad.

Q: When a unit of 10 Space Marines with the Combat

Squad special rule arrives from reserve as two combat

squads, can they move on from, or Deep Strike onto,

two different locations? (p23)

A: Yes.

Oh look, mindworm and by extension Ezekiel, are now even more pointless. I doubt any special character other than Belial (maybe Sammael) are worth running.

They can give us new storm shields and cyclone missile launchers, but I don't see the point when our Special Characters aren't worth the ink used for their entry.

Honestly it's about time that was brought in line with everything else. The less wacky scoring rules there are the better IMO.

Also if we're being honest who spent the points on that land speeder anyway after the typhoon update FAQ came out? This new rule affects the attack bike more often than the speeder I think.

Just because it acts as an independent unit doesn't change the fact that its a troops choice in your army. I agree with the above, I'm not seeing the change from the scoring ruling.

It states in the rulebook that vehicles cannot score, the codex labels the single attack bike and the landspeeder when a full ravenwing attack squad at full complment was taken as a combat squad; as 'independent scoring units' this contradicted and overruled the rulebook, and made them scoring units.

The vital word 'scoring' has been removed in the recent FAQ update, and now there is no rule saying that the individual attack bike and landspeeder can score even though they are vehicles.

Basically it means RAS Land Speeders are now never scoring, and Attack Bikes are scoring only in the Troops slot. Previously by quirk or purpose, an RAS Speeder and Attack Bike were always scoring whether they were in a Fast Attack or Troop slot.

but the attack bike isnt a vehicle is it?

No you're right it isn't it's as a 'Bike' in terms of rules.

Vehicles don't score in 5th anyway – so I guess that's why after several years, GW have woken up to the fact that our RAS speeder could score but shouldn't :tu:.

Some of our ICs alo have WS5 and shouldn't, I don't know why the double standards. :)

Every time somebody says something like this, GW is watching and includes it in the next FAQ update... so shuuuuush :tu:

Al

A lot of our IC's and special characters should be WS6 and aren't. I'll take the trade if they keep it fair.

In the latest FAQ.

Some confusion regarding Combat Squads and being in reserves.

Q: Can you take a Drop Pod with a 10-man squad and

then put a combat squad in it, deploying the other

combat squad on the table, or leave it in reserve but

not in the Drop Pod? (p69)

A: No, because squads that are placed in reserve may

not break down into combat squads.

OK, so a Squad placed in reserve can not be broken into Combat Squads...

Q: When a unit of 10 Space Marines with the Combat

Squad special rule arrives from reserve as two combat

squads, can they move on from, or Deep Strike onto,

two different locations? (p51)

A: Yes.

OK, so a Squad in Reserve can be broken down into Combat Squads...

Which one is it???

Apparently that would not be fair to the rest of the Space Marine community.

You can't combat squad while in reserve... but you can once you hit the table.

So this simply means that fluff wise the entire squad is together before they deploy... and after deployment the sergeant issues the duty assignments, and sends the corporal off with the second team.

Game wise it means that either the entire squad is in the pod or not... and once they hit the table they can break apart into combat squads.

For TDA and assault squads they are all held in reserves, come on at the same time (single roll), but can be deep struck separately or walk on from different points of the board edge.
