hermanista
How do, Yeah I know, I'm useless at sticking to one project * The Astral Claws are about half done, just needed a break*, but when inspiration hits, I think its best just to run with it. So I've been staring at a box of grey knights, wondering what to do with them for a while, since I've already got the Claws in progress which covers my silver army quota for the moment. I'd flipped between a few different chapters, Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Lamenters and others, all armies that would suit the knightly look of the GK kit and specifically the rather awesome two handed force swords. but with the rumours of Templars being due in March/April, I decided I'd get ahead of the curve, and go with the progeny of Dorn: Black Templars it was. So, an hour or so of building later and I had these boys to show for it http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w96/Hermanesq/Templars/322263_10150614199787774_525192773_10927367_857589467_o.jpg Suitably knightly I think and fitting of the various Templar artworks both official and not, of giant sword wielding zealous killers. So having slapped some paint around, they currently look like this http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w96/Hermanesq/Templars/329662_10150616120147774_525192773_10933620_110541768_o.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w96/Hermanesq/Templars/324515_10150616120372774_525192773_10933621_492972455_o.jpg Colourwise I'm trying to go for that arty style, so more muted sepia-esq colours, which has worked with the bone on the pads so far. The black armour is basecoated a 50/50 mix of charadon/black, whilst I work out how to darken it and then highlight. The metals are all basecoated, with various washes and highlights to go still. same for the detailed bits really. I just need to work out if i'm happy with the black being slightly green/brown tinged from the charadon granite colour, or if I should go with my less prefered 'proper' black to do it. hmmm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245614-black-templars/ Share on other sites
Gawain Veteris
I like this so called 'arty' approach. Colours in 40k often seem a bit off the palate rather than grim and dark. I look forward to seeing more. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245614-black-templars/#findComment-2971772 Share on other sites
MalevolentMc
Very very cool. I like the use of bits, the overall dirty dark look is very cool. Malev Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245614-black-templars/#findComment-2972038 Share on other sites
