Vexicus
Hail Brothers & Sisters, I am in need of some advice. If I choose to attach an Interrigator Chaplin to a Deathwing squad, does he have to be in TDA or can he just be on Power Armour? I ask as I want to try out a bowling ball unit (Belial with 2xLC 5x Terminators with LC and a Chaplin) but I don't have the points for the TDA on the Chaplin. I can't see why not but I thought I'd check first. Many Thanks Vex Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245656-deathwing-and-chaplains/ Share on other sites
breng77
Fluff wise or rules wise. Fluff wise he should probably be in TDA. Rules wise unless your intent is to deepstrike the squad, the chaplain has no need to have TDA. Isiah
breng77 is on the money. I've used the interrogator-chaplain in power armour with a DW squad just to get a hold of Litanies cheaply. Think about it, if he's attached with a squad in a LRC then power armours fine - albeit with a poorer save. Pbenner
Yeah, but he doesn't look nearly as cool as an Interrogator Chaplain in TDA! Also, losing the tactical advantage Deathwing Assault can give is not nearly as good. If you are taking a Land Raider, drop it for another Deathwing Squad and find the points for terminator armor. EPK
For what it's worth, I'd wager even fluff-wise you can justify attaching a power armor chaplain to a TDA squad. They have the seniority to take command of a squad regardless of armor in my opinion. Situations certainly arise where a Chaplain may have command of a particular strike force and may not have access to TDA. In fact, we have prescedence in Purging of Kadillus where Belial in power armor (when he was still Captain of the 3rd) teleported down supported by a squad of terminators... yes he was also able to deep strike without TDA! Paul I think it's more situational but in a tournament when you have no idea what your opponent will be, I can agree with you. Against the right army though, there is nothing like a LRC loaded with CC Terminators + Belial + Chaplain. BOOM.
