Starter Grey Knights 1500 pt

shred.

Recommended Posts

I've been slowly chipping away at finishing painting the Grey Knights that I bought last year, and it's finally time to get ready to actually play the game! I've been reading up on Draigowing armies, and I wanted to see if the army list below would work. Since I'm still really new to the game I'm not concerned with this being a tournament quality list, but more that it would actually be a viable list/strategy.

I'm planning on using Draigo and the Paladins as the deathstar unit, using the Dreadnoughts as long range fire support/tank busters, and having the strike squads hold objectives and use warp quake to disrupt enemy deep strike. The Razorbacks would also pepper the enemy with their S6 HB shots.

I welcome any suggestions.

Its a nice list, but possibly consider taking two squads of paladins, split the 10 man into a 2 5 mans, so they can be in two places, plus another unit to capture, and with ur grand strategy, make the dread noughts claim objectives, so u can them have ur ss's run around and capture another objective away from ur deployment zone, or ur cud have one or two ss's outflank, with their razorbacks, overall a very nice, balanced list and i may use a very similar version in a future game.

@squirrly: I'm pretty sure paladins can have 2 psycannons per 5 so there's no problem with having 4 for 10 paladins.

@Zeratul: The paladin's can already split up in combat squads if he wants them to. Like with most marine squads taking 10 and using the option combat squadding is usually better then taking 2x5 (unless you go razor spam).

Also keep in mind that grand strategy is assigned before combat squadding giving both combat squad the special rule.

The list is fine in my opinion, you have option for up to 6 scoring units (using both combat squad rule and grand strategy) only 8 kill points of which Draigo and the paladins are really hard to kill. Armour 14 will probably become your biggest problem though psycannons can hurt AV14 its not the most reliable method (then again AV14 in general is hard to deal with for GK with the exception for the vindicare). You might want to look into saving 20 poins somewhere to give psycannons to your strike squads. Trading in 1 psycannon from the paladins for 2 on the strike squads is actually a pretty good deal, on the move they have the same amount of fire while standing still you'll have 4 more shots.
