The winding path to becoming a Templar….

My 14 year old son has been playing 40k for about 3 years now. Before that I’d never heard of it.

We started out with the AOBR set, painted as ultramarines and goff clan.

As soon as we’d finished painting them out came the Space Wolves codex, so he decides he wants to be a space wolf. He now has about 1500 pts of Space Wolves. I built up the ork army so he could give me a regular thrashing.

We then decide to build up a chaos space marine army to to give the wolves a better game, so along came the Doom Wolves, a chaos army with a wolfy/slaneesh look.

After a while of that he buys himself the new Blood Angels codex. Cue a new army in red.

So what’s all this got to do with Templars?

Well with all the reading up on various 40k books etc. I’ve always had a fancy for a Templar army (I loved Hellsreach).

My son doesn’t live with me, but visits every other weekend. However, his 40k stuff does live with me.

He loves making the models, but is not so keen on painting, so I’ve done quite a lot over the last few years. As you can imagine, with all the various armies already mentioned, there’s quite a bit of unused stuff around the place. So last summer I bought the BT codex and an upgrade sprue and started making a small templar army on the quiet with the all the bits I could find. I’ve cobbled together and painted a couple of Crusader Squads, an Emperors Champion, a Chaplain with a distinctly chaos theme, some AOBR Terminators and a Dreadnought.

My son knows nothing of this. The army currently resides in the empty AOBR box in his bedroom.

I’ve just about finished with everything I’ve got now. With the talk of a new codex coming out soon, and lack of funds after Christmas, I may leave it at that for a while.

I’ll be posting some pictures in the next few days. I’m also working on a name for the crusade and some of the characters so it’s definitely a work in progress.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the Eternal Crusade, brother. You've come to the right place. Whether you play stabby, shooty, or a combination of the two; there's someone here for all your tactica needs. Also, this place is loaded with extrordinary artists to help with any painting/modeling difficulties you may encounter.

Can't wait to see you pics!

Welcome to the Eternal Crusade! You made the right choice.

As was already noted, whether its tactics and army building, or something more hobby related, we've got someone here who can help you. Never hesitate to ask questions! :D

Welcome and well met, Brother. I have a neophyte of my own, though sadly still much too young to teach in the ways of war :D

Whatever your needs and interests, I'm sure you will find fellow Marshalls here that share your passion.

Welcome to the B&C and the Eternal Crusade!

That's one way to hide our numbers from the Inquisition...

That made me lol with great enthusiasm.

Ok here goes

The photos aren't great, just wanted to get something posted.

Not sure what happened to the chaplain photo. I've got them all in the members gallery and the chaplain is the same size as the rest.

Shame, as it's the most detailed photo.
