Datasheet: Stormdragon

So one of my local gaming stores is having a special Apoc event every 4 months. In these events we're encouraged to create unique units. Having always wanted a Thunderhawk type ship, but never having the funds or skills to scratchbuild one myself, I decided to make a transport that is a step between the Thunderhawk and the Stormraven. A Stormraven kit will be used as the base, but once I'm done with it I'm hoping it'll more resemble a true mini-thunderhawk then a large stormraven.

I got the spec's approved before creating this datasheet, but wouldn't mind addition opinions, or just passing along the datasheet to inspire others.

With the Stormraven's small size, relative to the Thunderhawk, I doubt you can fit all those weapons AND models in one, even modified as you propose. I think it's better to split the functions, i.e., the Stormraven as an assault transport, and the Stormdragon as a dedicated gunship- NO TRANSPORT CAPACITY, with the possible exception of a Dreadnought.

Minor nitpick, but something I feel obliged to add...

Laser weapons HAVE no recoil. That's half the reason handheld laser weapon technology is so desperately sought after - the accuracy boost is massive. So using a recoil mechanic for the Turbo-laser destructor is... foolish, in the least.

Actually the Recoil mechanic was a request of the Event Organizer. He wanted some downside to having a Str D weapon on the vehicle, so thats what I came up with.

And as far as transport capacity goes, it can technically only hold 2 more models then a regular stormraven can, and its considerably larger then one.

Use Overheat rather than Recoil, then. >> Just... it makes more sense. I know this thing is a flying brick that could never work IRL, but still... it really bugs me when people assign lasers recoil, since it shows a total ignorance of the subject in question.
I'm open to a more specific suggestion. I mean I never personally plan to put that weapon on it, I just made it an option in case other people decide to make one, so its all the same to me. Would just need to get it approved by the event coordinator, but thats a simple enough matter as long as its fair.

Heat Build-up

In any turn during which the Turbo-Laser Destroyer is fired any models carried within the Storm Dragon must immediately roll 1d6. On a roll of a 1, they suffer a wound. Normal armour saves may be taken against these wounds.

just read over the data sheet. You've effectively made it 90% of a Thunder hawk, but at a little over half the price. I'll explain my point.

The Thunderhawk can carry 30 models.

The StormDragon can carry 24 models.

The Thunderhawk gets 4 twinlinked Heavy Bolters.

The StormDragon gets 3 Twinlinked Heavy Bolters

The Thunderhawk gets 6 Missiles

The StormDragon gets 6 Missiles

Swap the Heavy bolter sponsons for Hurrican bolters, the front heavy bolters for Typhoon missiles, and the battle cannon with a VMB and I'd be ready to go Squad hunting. And I've only spent 550points at that stage.

Personally I would recommend a starting price of 700 points. That way the addition of the Turbo Laser brings it 850 which I feel would be more in line for a not-quit Thunderhawk Thunderhawk
