Studio Silvernale
Right then, so to begin with I should tell the background. Originally I was going to make a guard armored company with a couple superheavy tanks for support. Then with 4th ed Witchhunters I was going to instead just do a platoon and a couple tanks for fire support for my Sororitas army. Now with 5th ed, I don't see the Sororitas as being a viable army (IMO and off-topic) and they can't have IG support anymore. So that now leaves me with a pair of half completed superheavy tanks (a Baneblade and a Stormsword). Now, since as far as I know there are no actual stats/rules for a Fellblade, and most people just make a Baneblade with marine bits, I am seriously thinking about repainting them to my Executioners colors (or should I leave them with the original plan of urban grey camouflage?). So any insight/input/feedback would be appreciated. Both tanks are 13" long and almost 7" wide excluding the sponsons. I included lucky Brother Gilbert to show the scale compared to a "normal" Baneblade. Here is the work I have done so far (with a marine tank guy to make this PA-compatible). DerekLee688
I like the model you have constructed. I think marines need super heavy ground vehicles. Not all marine chapters or companies are fleet based. How do you kill titans if you have no thunderhawks, strike cruisers, and battlebarges? Back on topic, the construction of the model is better than what I would call table top quality. The only thing I recommend is to break up the flat blank sections with more bits(more hatches/whatever) and paint job(weathering, unit markings, chapter symbols, kill markers, battle damage, etc.). The size is nice and big, super heavies were never meant to have cover saves Marines don't usually use camo. It henders the message of, "The Emperor hates you and we've come to kill you." But if you wanted to be cheeky in particular, you can paint the tank to make it look like it is made of stone like any gothic building the tank would be around in an urban environment. Machinator
Nice scratch builds there. Looks like you have a Fellblade and Falchion (the Space Marine version of the Shadowsword). Machinator
It's back from the 80s so most people haven't heard of it. I discovered it while doing research for my own space marine super-heavies. http://s15.invisionfree.com/The_Great_Crusade/ar/t252.htm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2975598 Share on other sites

Studio Silvernale
The turrets got some reinforcing and I finally added the demolisher cannon. The lascannon turret will be recast since I will need a few of them. http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2012/030/f/0/baneblade_15_by_kasumidoll-d4o4ehh.jpg http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/030/d/0/baneblade_16_by_kasumidoll-d4o4ela.jpg http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/030/0/0/baneblade_17_by_kasumidoll-d4o4eo0.jpg OK here is the kick in the teeth... I can't figure out what to do for the frontal plate of the main turret. I have tried a couple things to make a rounded front (including cutting a plastic paint bottle in half lengthwise). Any ideas? http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/030/2/7/baneblade_18_by_kasumidoll-d4o4erd.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2981261 Share on other sites
NightHunters
Looking strong! Regards the turret how about an angled front like the Leopard 2 A6/A7 Should be simple enough to replicate the wedge shape with some plasticard? Good luck! Studio Silvernale
I can try that. I guess when I think of a "tank" I immediately visualize a Sherman. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2981390 Share on other sites

This is the only real drawback I see to the modeling, and agree with this advice. How about a giant Aquila on the side or some other icon of the Imperium. There's always extra armor or guitar wire cabling and gizmo boxes to put on something to break up the outline. Battle damage? Definitely a shrine, reliquary, or trophy rack. Or all three, why not, it's huge! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2981583 Share on other sites

Or all three, why not, it's huge! I have a lot of trophy bits I'm adding in, and the sides will have plenty of markings and whatnot painted on. I'm adding battle damage and all manner of fiddly bits which I'm painting separately for ease. The tank right now is tentatively named either Lawman Mary or Murderer's Row. Studio Silvernale
Yeah I just made a mold and poured the resin in. verpine
This is starting to look really great, the only thing is that the main cannon bothers me- it looks like a thin piece of pipe, not the cannon barrel for a BAMF superheavy tank ready to level a fortress. I'm not really sure how you could remedy this, but a possibility is to use to use the barrel of some toy tank, like this guy did when he made his thunderhawk: http://www.ironhands.com/h2thawk.htm Otherwise looks really cool. Keep it up. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2984260 Share on other sites

Russ Brother 92
I'd say it does look better - one thing I suggest is that you look at detail images of both Panthers and King Tigers - that's the sort of barrel shape/outline you should be looking for :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245790-fellblade/#findComment-2984568 Share on other sites
Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Looking good so far bud. The later pics look great, but I have to agree the earlier pics need to have more detail.
