Space Wolves and Grey knights vs The World!

Hey guys! Once again I decided to test my luck and enter another tournament this time it is a 2v2 2000point tournament.

Rules are 1000 points per player, non shared force organization and forge world rules.

No proxy's for Forge World, but regular model proxies can be allowed, so I can proxy TWC if the mythicast wolves dont come in quick enough.

So I said lets do it! and found a Grey Knight partner. We have been practicing a lot so far using the following lists and I was just attempting to get an opinion from my fellow brothers on which you guys liked more.

First off I have 4 list that I have written up for peer review located here - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=245945

Currently I am torn between my first list and fourth list. Either Scouts/RP/Grey Hunters or TWC/Grey hunters both including Long Fangs of course. While my partner is adding in 2 Dreadnaughts and a bunch of Rhinos.

What we really want to do for good laughs is play a Draigo List and a Pure TWC List and just bring like 20 models total to the table but that would just be for a good laugh.

What I really want to do is bring TWC and take 2 squads of Grey Hunters and sit them back in Laz-Plaz covering objectives with Long fangs. I would use the TWC to cover ground and open a path for the Grey Knights to move through, also the GreyKnights could shoot up and soften whatever I am about to charge ;).

One concern I am having is do I want to do my TWC like this:

HQ - Mounted Wolf Lord - StormShield - 175 points

Fast Attack - Thunderwolf Cavalry - 1 Thunder Hammer, 3 Melta Bombs, 4 Stormshields - 365 Points

or like this

HQ - Mounted Wolf Guard Battle Leader - Frost Weapon, StormShield - 170 Points

Fast Attack - Thunderwolf Cavalry - 1x - Thunder Hammer

1x - Bolt Pistol + Close Combat Weapon

2x - StormShields

1x - StormShield + Meltabomb

375 points

For this kind of tournament is TWC at 1000 points per player seems like a bad idea and scouts seem better by all means let me know .

The teams for the tournament are as follows:

1) Space Wolves and Grey Knights (My partner and Me)

2) Tau and IG

3) Eldar and Eldar

4) Eldar and Space Marines

5) Traitor Guard and Guard

6) Space Marines and Blood Angels

7) Sisters of Battle and Iron Hand

8) Dark Angels and Blood Angels

9) Blood Angels and Tau

10) IG and Chaos

11) Khorne Orks (CSM) and Demons

12) Tau and Dark Angels

13) IG and Space Wolves

3 teams still to come.

HQ - Mounted Wolf Lord - StormShield - 175 points

Fast Attack - Thunderwolf Cavalry - 1x - Thunder Hammer

1x - Bolt Pistol + Close Combat Weapon

2x - StormShields

1x - StormShield + Meltabomb

375 points

i would take some thing like that only i would take only the 1 storm shield on the unit give another one a power weapon of some kind and add a melt a boom to a stander equipped guy to make him different from the other one.

also i would take the wolf lord but if you can give him a sage preferably saga of the bear so a strength 10 weapon will not insta kill him if you fail your save that is if you have points to mess with if not your list looks fine.

just my opinion.

Aye my partner and I were having issues with trying to make all the WTC different so we can give them an easier time with wound allocation. The problem is comes down to either a Stormshield or a power weapon.

But as far as str 10 is concerned ya I am pretty terrified I am not going to lie :o. I am already preparing a V like formation for the Cavalry so I can avoid having him clip my whole unit :(.

The Wolf Guard can only have the following sagas:beast, hunter, wolfkin and warrior born.

Also if I drop the extra wound on the wolf lord for a wolf guard it will give me the extra points to bring a 5th TWC to round out the troops making it 5+ the HQ. Unless thats overkill :)

well as power weapons are a near guaranteed kill i like them and i really like them at str 5 the way i run my thunder wolf cav is as follows

1 standard guy with melta bomb

1 thunder hammer

1 power weapon

1 storm shield

1 standard

and my wolf lord on a thunder wolf with a power weapon and storm shield with saga of the bear works out good but i don't recall the points values off the top of my head. all of them are different that way

1 wolf claw 70 points

1 thunder hammer 80 points

1 power weapon 65 points

1 storm shield 80 points

1 standard 50 points

Wolf Lord -100 base + Saga of the bear 35 + 45 for the power weapon + SS - 190 pointsand my wolf lord on a thunder wolf with a power weapon and storm shield with saga of the bear works out good but i don't recall the points values off the top of my head. all of them are different that way

So you run them like I do my termies but since they can move d6+18" there pretty deadly. Its an idea but with the lack of SS doesnt that leave room for more guys to die to melta fire and such?

Your way they come to 535 with the wolf lord and lack of SS but more offensive killing power! Hmm mines comes to 545. I lose one TWC, gain a wound on my captain and everything he kills makes him that much crazier. Sigh the pros and cons of this are driving me insane!
