T14
This is an attempt to compile a list of words, sayings and vows in High Gothic. For those unaware of it, GW seems to employ dog latin as a way to confer the baroque nature of High Gothic in the fluff. The aim is to create words and sentences that are vaguely recognizable to the english speaker, and most importantly, that sound cool. Feel free to suggest alternative translations if you find something you like. The rule of cool is king. I also take requests :) In no particular order: Atra Templariorum - Black Templars. Non permittant vivere impuritus - Suffer not the unclean to live. Onera accipiunt, obstantibus consequentii - Accept the challenge, no matter the odds. Abhorrent Maleficarum, perdam Maleficarum - Abhor the witch, Destroy the witch. Suscipe honorem imperatoris - Uphold the honour of the Emperor. Honestum est vita tua. nemo contradicere - Your honour is your life, let none dispute it. Tu lux vestra portate imperatoris voluntatem. In ea, dissipet umbras - You carry the Emperor's will as your torch. With it, destroy the shadows. Resistitur inefficax. Tua purgabitur - Resistance is futile, you will be purged. Fratres Gladio - Sword Brethren. Sanctus incendii - Holy (hand) grenade. Imperator protegit - The Emperor Protects. Imperator Vult - The Emperor Wills it. Ave Imperator - Hail the Emperor. More to come :P -T14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245970-bt-in-high-gothic/ Share on other sites

High gothic is Dog Latin. mistakes do not exist :D The only rule is to make it sound cool :D If you prefer to soothe the nerves of any Linguist readers you may consider using the translator tool back and forth a few times to ensure consistency. -T14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245970-bt-in-high-gothic/#findComment-2976114 Share on other sites

Marshal Severarse
Informative and funny, especially the Monty Python references and the neo initiation motto. Too bad this sort of British humour is being strained out of 40k. Oh well, guess you can't have humor and grimdark. T14
Oh, I fully intend to put these to good use  two of my cenobytes will be carrying shields, each with half of the grammar lesson from "Life of Brian": Cenobyte 1: Xenos Eunt Domus Cenobyte 2: Xenii Ite Domum Cenobyte 3: Sanctus incendii, whilst carrying a holy grenade on a velvet pillow The black knight references would work well on dreadnoughts ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/245970-bt-in-high-gothic/#findComment-2976511 Share on other sites
