Greeting brothers! have been a regular follower here for almost a year now...

5 or 6 months ago i started collecting my first pieces for a crucade... unfortunantelly work has been a hand full and have had very little spare time...

despite that i decided that i would post some of my wip pics here so that my brothers could comment and help me improve...

(also im new to 40k in general so all tips are welcome in all aspects)

Finally the first marine is my first attempt at NMM so help is more the welcome on that subject as well!

And what a magnificent start it is!

That is one awesome looking command squad. Awesome posing and green stuffing. Can't wait to see it all painted up.

I'm curious to the exact paints used on the marine? Don't think i'll try NMM myself, too tricky, i'm still curious.

the paints are rather ordinary...

for the power armour i used chaos black and fortress grey... mixing them up in various proportions to get the desired color (its a on the fly thing :ermm: )

for the tarbard i used skull white and bleached bone angain mixing them up..

for the eyes blood red, blazing orange and some bad moon yellow once again mixing them up to get the tones i wanted..

and the browns are scorched earth, beastial brown and adding some bleached bone to lighten it up from time to time... hope it helps!!

and thank you for you kind comments brother! the emperor protects!

I don't think you need help, I think you should be teaching. :ermm:

This is a great start to your crusade, your NMM on the bolt pistol looks very well done...and I love the detailing on the chainsword. The only nit I can see is that it seems like your robes could use a little more definition, as in a little darker in the recesses. That would help them "pop" a little more.

On the other hand, the lighting may have washed the colors out and your just fine.

Either way, your first guy looks very good.

Cheers,

Consider this liked!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Crusade as well. Hurry up!

You could balance out the proportions of white and red on the tiny shield on the book of the first marine, but other than that, he looks great!

Also, sorry for the bad quality of the pics my old camera is broken so not much I can do atm :(

Thanks brother Dark Scipio!!!

Yip all the tabbards are made from green stuff  as I couldn't get my hands on an upgrade spure at that time, plus I found out that sculpting them was quite fun!

Once the reclusiarch  is ready I will try to get some better pics and upload them :)

Cheers Marshal_Roujakis!!!

I can't take full credit for them as I read a tutorial somewhere once but I cannot remeber where...

It is very simple, you first cut a cardboard  in the shape of the tabbard, next you put a coat of super glue over it to make it water proof and harder.

After it dries you can simply add a not very thick layer of green stuff on top of that and work to make recesses with a sculpting tool, just remeber to wet the tool first so that the green stuff doesn't get stuck on it ( I just used the back to the paintbrush :P )

So as you can see it is very easy and works rather well!!!

Last reply before thread necromancy was 29th jan. 2012.

"Hey, this guy paints about as fast as I do!"

Then it dawns that we are talking about over one and a half year. :s

I probably should check if my marines havent left me and found new employments elsewhere.

Back on topic: Like how you do the scripture. Especially on the book. Also, don't think I've seen red chainswords in a while.. not since a certain.. era. But you seem to pull it off.
