Wolf priests.

I am making a conversion of a Wolf Priest that i want to be unique since the is only on real purchasable model on the market via GW.

My question is this. Does the Crozius Arcanum have to be portrayed with either imperial or chapter iconography? Can it be some sort of specially designed weapon or can it be more literally a beacon of like type thing?

I know the answer so do what you think its cool, there is no MUST in 40K only degrees of cool

except bases, he HAS to have one! :P

typically it's a sign of office and as such includes the typical eagle wings and some form of a skull. one of my wolfpriests just uses a hammer with a winged wolfskull on either side

Try taking off the wolf-end of the Space Wolves sprue Thunder Hammers. Two of those things together would look great!

:EDIT:

Like these.

Thanks for the great advice about this. It is my own model so obviously i have to make it something i find cool looking but at the same time i want to adhere to fluff of these things.

=o Aww darn it hendrik, you crushed my dream of using a Baneblade as his personal footstool .. :P

What i was thinking of doing was taking one of the Chaos knight Spears and sculpting furs wrapped around the hilt with the head of a wolf being pierced by the very base of the spear's blade.

Similar to the below picture, but with the blade out the top. *edit * without the Indian decorations of course :)

No mind you I no longer play SW's but isn't that a Bad Omen to use Dark Angels bitz for independent characters? Or is that my belief?

I also use the back pack marker for my Crozius. Here it is on a power armored priest.

If you'd like, I can post a picture of my TDA priest who carries the same weapon, it also looks kick ass.

End of Line

the spoils of war! my former brother. that dark angel's chaplin challenged the wrong wolfpriest.

his death was swift his weapon rebuild by the iron priest and blessed by the wolf spirits.

thanks for all the advice guys. Decided against the spear purely because my rune priest on bike uses one as well and want them to be a bit different.

the thing on top of his head is suppose to be a goblin wolf head but has been hacked to pieces to fit my needs. Will be making another fur coat coming out the back/sides of the head and make large fangs coming down.

What do people think of it so far or any advice?

I think the head doesn't look like a wolf at all, more like a rat. The weapon looks feasible, but I would suggest adding some wolfy parts. Also Plasma Pistol is not good at all for your Wolf Priest, generally it sucks. I like the pose, looking forward to see him painted.

like the model but wolfhead is not that good, and try to remove the plasma pistol waste of points

and a risky weapon for an HQ or exprensive models in that matter.

i also have some models with a spear, even a rune priest with one.

like to see a pic of him

Yes i agree the wolf head isn't particularly fantastic at the moment but i think it will look a lot better once i am done sculpting it. what do you all think would make it look more wolfish?

I am not entirely sure where or how to add anything space wolf to the weapon as it is already fairly cluttered already. Maybe runes / wolf teeth on a chain wrapped around the shaft?

As to the plasma pistol, i love the look of them and i love doing the glow effect of them. Plus, he has a 2+ armour save and it gives him an extra attack instead of using the combi-melta i originally was going to give him.

before anyone comments on it ... yes i have just noticed the mold line on the model and im filing it off right now =p

I made a cast (although I didn't do a very good job of it.) of the gamesday Wolf Priest's hammer, since I love that model too much to cut it up.

If you want a wolf's head hood, a press of the older Njal model might work (although you'd want to hollow it out some). It actually looks like a wolf too, which is nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is the latest update on the WP. Still needs more work done on it but i'm happy with how its progressing. If anyone has any advice for doing the fangs, that would be awesome.
