Some finally finished, long overdue WIP

Quite a few months ago I posted a paint by request topic for my GK army, for a power armor squad and a terminator squad (for those that remember it). I apologize as I was tied up with a new university year, and I have since lost the thread, so i couldn't finish the terminator requests.

But hopefully youll forgive my heresy by observing my newest (mostly finished, one squad needs finished swords and they all need basing) finished WIP. The squad with finished cc weps needed heraldry for a while, the one with blue swords is newest. The librarian was grinded out over 3 days on and off. He is (in my opinion) my best model of my GK to date. My hand still cramps from painting he's so new! Anyways, enjoy

All of them, newest on the left

My current pride and joy  SO NEW, and yes, he does not have pupils in his eyes, I like the idea of him charging up, emitting raw power in a pure glow from his eyes. pew pew. nothing too original, I kinda just mirrored the book, gave him a nemesis force rod

If your looking to improve. I have a tutorial made here for the blue steel armor effect, and it doesn't take much skill, the rest is just a steady hand with your base coating and washes.

for parchment, base with tallern, then ogryn flesh, then watered down bleached bone

reds are done with red gore, then blood red, then ogryn flesh, the more blood red with 25% sunburst yellow, then a brighter edge highlight

golds are done with bronze, then shining, then ogryn again, then burnished highlight

blacks are done with chaos, then regal highlight, then smaller enchanted highlight

I have one of my sword effects there, but if you don't have an airbrush, you wont be able to get the same nemesis weapon effect I have.

In a nutshell, the effect i have in the pictures on this topic goes like this:

1. Paint weapon regal blue

2. using painters tape (a narrow tape will do, one you can bend around the halberd curves) to mask off half the weapon on either side

3. load enchanted blue into airbrush, give the weapon a little spray in a select area where you will want it to be brighter

4. after all the enchanted is done, skull white, spray in the same area, only a smaller amount is required

5. next, use chaos black, same idea in the darker areas. For all of the spraying, use a very low flow so you dont accidentally blob it on

6. removed tape and wait to dry, then mask the areas you sprayed

7. repeat 3-5. remember where you sprayed your weapons the first time so you can alternate the pattern.

8. remove tape, repair anything that was ripped off, and then i did a fine line of skull white along the very tip edges and a thin line of watered down enchanted along the middle of the weapon where the two halves meet.

thanks guys, when im back home on monday I should be able to post more

Alright, took me longer to get around to these as I thought, but as promised, here are my dazzling new rhinos. the top hatches are magentized for heavy bolter interchangeability ;)

If there is enough interest perhaps I shall make a tutorial on how these were done, wasnt hard, and each took me approximately one day to do

I would love to see how you do that paintjob! They are fantastic and very clean. I'm hoping to experiment on airbrushing something similar (with the help of tape of course) but if I can't get a setup like that with one, I'll definitely do it by hand. Well done, your Grey Knights are awesome. Keep it up!
