Martok
Hey, This project has gone through a few incarnations and builds as I have messed with things while using it as my tournament 1750 list. I should be sticking with this build for awhile as I have found it to be pretty well balanced (as opposed to my thunderwolf and long fang list). I shall be adding pics as I finish up the last units but here is the finished stuff: Arik my Bjorn counts as http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Bjorn.jpg Dreadnought Amlaidh http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Dread21-1.jpg Dreadnought Olaf http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Dread22.jpg Rune Priest Ragnvald's Grey Hunters http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH1COMPLETE.jpg Their Rhino http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GHRHINO1.jpg A close up of the Wolf Banner http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GHWS1.jpg And a close up of the squad command http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH1COMMAND.jpg This is my first attempt at weathering throughout an army. I have been avoiding bashing them up too bad but I am worried it may be understated? Any comments? - Martok Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/ Share on other sites
Isiah
Chaos Wolves is an interesting concept. You have some very characterful models – I think my favourite thus far is the standard bearer and his standard ;). Keep it coming. malika666
Very fitting for the Dornian Heresy I think! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/#findComment-2979381 Share on other sites
Martok
Thanks for the response guys, I have been inspired somewhat by the Dornian Heresy although, I see these guys as survivors of the Wolf Brothers Exterminatus. Having been left out in the cold as it were by Russ and the Allfather they renounce their oaths. More pictures :) Here is the second Grey Hunter Pack and their Wolf Guard Rhino 2 http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Rhino2.jpg Grey Hunter Pack Vidkun http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH2TRANSPORT.jpg Command http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH2COMMAND.jpg Wolf Guard Vidkun http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH2WG.jpg Wolf Banner http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GHWB2.jpg And the army in progress http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/ARMYPIP.jpg Comments and criticism are welcome as I shall be going back through the army at the end to tidy anything I have missed. - Martok13 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/#findComment-2984474 Share on other sites
Jimmy Carmine
Thanks for the response guys, I have been inspired somewhat by the Dornian Heresy although, I see these guys as survivors of the Wolf Brothers Exterminatus. Having been left out in the cold as it were by Russ and the Allfather they renounce their oaths. Firstly loving the models, but your idea of who they are is very interesting. Battle of the Fang talks about what went wrong with the Wolf Brothers but the Space Wolves clearly never considered the possibility that some of the Wolf Brothers may have calles upon the dark powers to save them. I'm liking this! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/#findComment-2984492 Share on other sites
Cpt_Lucifer
Damn, your army is coming along... I am going to have to step and start posting my half of the army. Need to finish weathering the tanks. It is looking very nice on your guys as well. Also, the more I change the Blood Red to Mechanite Red the more I think it is a mistake. The Blood Red is much more bold and striking in contrast with the grey - also since it is already done, going over it all is a shame. I think the flat colour of Mech Red looked really nice on the tanks but not so great on the troops. We need to form the coherent fluff as well... madeofhate
I see that the heads of Squad Vidkun are from the Warriors of Chaos from Warhammer, nice touch. Reminds me of the Mk. III Crusade Armour. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/#findComment-2984669 Share on other sites
Martok
Cheers guys. I have used a devlan wash on all of the furs now and it really does add some depth. I will go back and Bsdab everything at the end i think. Also I have been writing some fluff for these guys I shall try and finish it up so I can post when the army is complete. The real inspiration for the Wolf Brothers actually came from Battle of the Fang. I had been trying to work out how someone with the Canis Helix (which is supposed to make them proof to Chaos) could fall. The warped Wolf Brothers basically spelt out to me that if you not from Fenris your genetics don't work correctly with the Canis Helix... also if the Canis Helix has mutated it could become something else all together. So for my Wolves its pretty much what MAKES them heretics rather than protecting them... Now more progress. This is the 1st Razorback Grey Hunters with Wolf Guard Hakon Razorback http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Razor1.jpg Grey Hunter Pack Hakon http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH3.jpg Wolf Guard Hakon http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH3WG.jpg Wolf Standard http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/GH3WB.jpg Keep the tips and recommendations coming as they are really helping this project along. And before I go Here are some sneak peeks: Long Fang http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/IMG_14711.jpg Home and away objective marker http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/IMG_14701.jpg - Martok Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246116-martoks-dogs-of-war/#findComment-2987442 Share on other sites
Martok
Another update. Finally the objective. Kierdale
Very nice work! Original ideas, nice poses and good painting. The vehicles are well weathered. The mud on their boots looks a little plain...though I'm not sure how it could be made more realistic. A gloss varnish would probably make it look wet, but I don't know how realistic it would look. That's about the only point I could see on which to give advice. Martok
Thanks Kierdale I have been looking around for a way to improve the mud and I am currently considering a mix of fine sand flock etc with brown paint to give a more authentic look. Does this sound like a good way to go?
