VAGABOND
I posted a topic up here a few weeks ago regarding Dreadknights and how to use them and after using Psy Dreadnoughts as a stand in. I think I may have come up with a nasty tactic. I've got a tournament in a couple of weeks at Warhammer World and it's only 1500 but the problem is I run Draigowing and have been doing very well with them so far. Marching them up the field casting Shrouding along the way to help protect them. Using Draigos Psy Communion I can bring on my Dreadknights right infront of them and forcing the enemy to deal with them allowing me to either counter attack. I'm not sure if this has been done before but thought I'd ask and see what you guys thought. The Dreadknights have no upgrades just the standard Doomfists. Edit: Made a mistake with the Grand Strategy rule. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246133-nasty-or-bad/ Share on other sites
Abaddonshand
I would say go with the latter. The first tactic is actually illegal I think. The grand strategy cannot be conferred on draigo or the libbie as they are ICs, and scouts is not a rule that transfers to attached characters when given to a squad. VAGABOND
Ahh ;) so it is mate, I forgot about that part. Yeah I'd definitely love to try that outat some point and see how it pans out for me. nurglez
I use my DK as a disposable commodity in my draigo wing force, although mine with PT, GS and HI does cost 260 points... My 1500 point force has done quite well, so I am looking forward to taking it to the April ToS event and seeing how it does against people there, let us know how it goes Vagabond :D I have toyed with the idea of using 2 DK's without teleporters in my draigo wing force, but for some reason they just don't seem to work for me, I love having the shunt move, and sacrificing 5 pallies and my 260 point dk for 2 solodins, inquisitor and 2 dk's just doesn't seem to fit my playing style... Back on topic, I assume you will deepstrike them in, however they cant benefit from a teleporter homer, making it a bit risky unless you are near a servo skull... VAGABOND
Ah bolloxks there goes that idea, I did mean to check my codex earlier but was preoccupied with other things. Yeah that clears that up for me then and leaves me without much option for 1500 points. I did toy with the idea of taking a 10 man Paldain squad with different wargear to maximize wound allocation. I also added a 5 man Terminator Squad with a Psycannon and a Solodin with Halberd. I will hopefully test it out next week and see how it goes and don't worry I'll let you guys know I get on. Thanks for your help dude :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246133-nasty-or-bad/#findComment-2978178 Share on other sites
nurglez
Dunno if it helps, but the core of my 1500 point lists is Draigo, 10pallies (4 psycannon's, 2mced weps and 1 falchions), giving me 9 wound groups and 5 pallies with 2 psycannon's and 1 mced wep, full unique. This comes in at 1240 points. This core is very decent and shooting and assault, though only capable of taking on 2-3 targets a turn. My rather decent win ratio (while mostly against friends of varying codexes). I've tried out solodins and considered 2 5 man squads, but I always come back to it. One new list I tried out had an inquisitor in terminator armour, psycannon and psychic communion, 3 servo skulls and a Psyrifle dread. 260 can get you a few toys to play with, including a landraider or storm raven. I take it from some other posts you don't play 1500 points often, so what do you usually play at? You are right I don't play 1500 point games very often and we tend to play 1750 - 2000 in my local GW. I have been testing out my new Grey Knight army aswell recently to practice for a tournament in Scotland in March which is 2k. The 1500 point list is similar to the one you mentioned but has a Librarian and a 5 man Paladin squad with a full 10 man Paladin unit for max wound allocation.
