Captain jOE
Just wanted to post this and get opinions on it. I'd like to use it for some SM scouts that will have both IG and SM scout bits. My main question to you guys is: will this pass the WYSIWYG test? Can you just look at it and immediately say, "oh, that's a different style bolter." ? Thanks in advance. Any other comments and crits are of course welcome. CJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246202-opinions-on-this-bolter-style/ Share on other sites
cathar the great
The barrel is very iconic so yeah, it could be a shaved down bolter. I'd pass final judgement if I see it on a miniature. Hopefully I can have a figure to show you soon. I'm waiting on some Cadian shock troopers bodies. What I want to do, is have SM scout legs, Shock trooper bodies, a trimmed down SM backpack, with Catachan or IG arms (with SM scout size shoulder pads), and whatever heads I like (SM scout, catachan, IG, etc.). Sounds like a plan. I built a Necromunda Ganger with Scout legs + Cadian torso, looks like this (middle one): http://tortureentertainment.blogsport.de/images/Necromunda003.jpg http://tortureentertainment.blogsport.de/images/Necromunda004.jpg with a Cadian arm, even ^^ Looking forward to your conversions. Kierdale
I'd say it looks very good! A nice slimmed-down bolter for those not quite ready for the full model yet. Looking forward to seeing it on your scouts... and give it a name, Captain, give it a name! The ?????-pattern scout bolter, etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246202-opinions-on-this-bolter-style/#findComment-2979010 Share on other sites
Darklighter
I knew it was a bolter before I starte to read so I'd say it passed the wysiwyg test. KhorneHunter57x
It looks awesome. Perhaps some version of a bolt carbine? Any other comments and crits are of course welcome. Can I use your design? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246202-opinions-on-this-bolter-style/#findComment-2979048 Share on other sites

The ?????-pattern scout bolter, etc I'll call it the Sergus pattern bolter. Named after Grithan Sergus. The leader of my "SM" force. (Lore found here if you care to read) http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...9;s+mercenaries It looks awesome. Perhaps some version of a bolt carbine? Any other comments and crits are of course welcome. Can I use your design? Absolutely ;) ! But only if you show me the results ^_^ . I'm sure you can use a standard lasgun for the conversion, but I used a catachan one because the gun casing is shorter than that of the standard lasgun. I just chopped off everything past the gun casing and the energy clip. Then I obviously just put on a bolter clip and a bolter barrel. EDIT: looking back at it, you may also want to add a bolt of some kind, that's something I'll have to work out myself :/ . Maybe I'll do a flap like a modern M4 has. And thanks for the input everyone! I'll post a picture of one of my scouts once the bits get here and I can blue tack him together . EmbattledSoul
yes, an ejection port/ ejection port cover would be a good idea. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246202-opinions-on-this-bolter-style/#findComment-2979424 Share on other sites
Captain Juan Juarez
If there was a Bolter-Carbine, that's what it would kinda look like - the sort of weapon you'd give to vehicle crews that still packs the same sort of punch.
