WB Daemon Prince,

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just though I would show of my latest project. I wanted a WB Daemon Prince, that's no too "daemonic". I don't know why, but I imagine a WB DP retaining more of his human features than say an EC or BL DP.

After a bit of brownstuff and greenstuff work on my old old greenstuff DP (really just the legs, from something like 10 years ago), this is what I got.

The head is based on an Ogryn head, but I did a lot of filing, wings are from some old Fantasy monster, and the axes are from the old Doombull.

And this is with some paint on him and a proper base.

I really like my Host insignia, the Chaos star with a book superimposed on top. I have it on all my Terminators, but I have yet to sculpt them on all my PA dudes. Maybe I'll just paint it on them. :P

This topic is actually mostly to advertise the virtues of Brownstuff for making smooth armour with hard edges. It so much easier than with Greenstuff, and I have been seeing some other hobby sculptors work popping up lately. So just a friendly tip. :P

Aaah, I get it. :P

I bought mine from The War Store.

I must warn you, it is really bad for making organic and very small things like faces and fingers. On the other hand, greenstuff is great for that, but bad for making armour, so they compliment each other perfectly.

Is it good for building a core of a model? or would something like terracotta/clay be better for that covered with a layer of greenstuff and brownstuff? I'm aiming to go for something like this http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&sect...d+sons#/d37od6b crossed with the Egyptian god anubis with a big halberd/staff and cape.

The idea at first was to give him more bat-like wings, but I decided against it because everyone seems to have that. Also, he is a WB Undivided DP, so I wanted him to have some characteristics from each God. The belly and feet tie in to Nurgle, the Axes to Khorne, the wings to Tzeentch and the flesh and leather ribbons with studs to Slaanesh.

The wings were the only place I could do a Tzeentch homage without making him look too daemonic.

I use DAS clay over a wire frame for the foundation, though if the model is small, I go for greenstuff over wireframe directly. GS is quite cheap, and easier to work with than DAS, so I only use those kinda cheap clays when I really need to save money.

@ the rest of you

Thanks! There are things I would change with hind sight, but I'm really glad you like it! :to:

Hehe, the best wire is probably the cheapest. I often use some thick soldering wire which I found in a trash can about 15 years ago when I did some summer work doing rail road maintenance.

For smaller models, standard cheap iron/steel wire found in any hardware store will do just fine.
