BT Drawing(s)

Firepower

Recommended Posts

So, some of you may remember from our brief interest in getting Black Templar patches for the community that I tend to fiddle around with pencils from time to time. This charming little guy is something I drew over a year ago (when I should've been taking notes, if memory serves) and just recently had a chance to properly scan into my computer.

There are some things I don't like; it's on notebook paper for one, and the foreshortening/musculature on his right arm and left hand is a bit screwed up, and as usual I lost interest before bothering to work up a background. Still, I felt it'd be nice to share with you lot ;)

My little sister who is currently working on some sort of fancy art degree in California has been petitioned to clean up the image and add color with all her fancy gear. But since I'm not actually paying her, I can't count on having results until somewhere around the end of this semester :P.

Now since I've got nothing else to add to the thread (my sister took the scanner with her ;)), and since I know for a fact I'm not the only one around here with a modicum of artistic talent, I figured it might be fun to see what pencil and pen work our fellow Templars might care to share, too.

So, feel free to slap your own doodles here!

Another nitpick - everyone's a critic! - is that the abdomen seems incredibly narrow, like his day-job is a trapeze artist or something.

I do love the almost-feral expression on his face, and what appears to be the holstered shotgun at his back though.

Bravo, sirrah.

Funny you should bring this up...I was in a meeting (conference call) a few weeks back and towards the end when the droning seemed to be taking that "eternal" tone (i.e. would you please stop in my life time?) and I just started doodling.

Low and behold, a few minutes later I had a crusader sketched out. Now where did I put that? It may be in my work journal. I'll have to look for it and post the image.

Failing that, I'm quite sure there will be another "inspirational" event in my near future.

Cheers,

Well, the abdomen is narrow partly to get across the bulk of the armor itself, and partly because he's not meant to be as fully bulked out in mass as a full Initiate either.

Kinda disappointing that no one else has thrown up any doodles just yet, but I suppose it's understandable given my own troubles in acquiring a scanner :P. I just finished up another drawing yesterday that I'm fairly proud of, but I'll have to go check at Kinko's to see if they have a quality scanner so I can slap it up here.

just photograph it mate. It will come out fine as long as we are talking sub-artificer levels of detail :)

Fine, Mr. Smarty-mod ;) I suppose I can sacrifice on quality for the sake of showing off.... ;)

A sketch I did of a random Chaplain. Unfortunately, by the time I got to the very last part of the drawing (his right leg) I realized I couldn't wrap my head around the perspective to make it look right...so I took a little shortcut and slapped one of our bolter-lugging servi-Jawas in front of it :D. Still, I'm fairly proud of it aside from that little hiccup.

Looking great :) I have yet to progress beyond stick-figures with really big swords. Skill at perspective and proportion is like magic to me.

Fine, Mr. Smarty-mod

That's Retired Smarty-mod to you, Young Chaplain. :D Being encased in this sarcophagus prevents me from operating a meltagun like in the old days. Now I usually just spend my time napping and digressing while DazPanzerIstUber and Brother Loring keeps the Eternal crusader on course.

Hey you, Drawy McDrawerson! When the heck did you start pumping out these babies? I demand a picture of Jasper!

<_<

Hehe to be honest, the last pic was more or less meant to be Jasper, hence the hammer/crozius combo...

Buuuut, I had 10 minutes to spare tonight, so:

I think the hammer looks pretty good as it stands actually, Mr. Retired-SmartyMod :D

I didn't feel like drawing anything too complex today, but I felt I could do a better job with Jasper....

gallery_38474_6916_634074.jpg

That deserves to be on our codex.

I should get out the pencils and paper and start drawing again....

Holy crap! You can draw that well in ten minutes? I am envious. I never progressed beyond giant dioramas of stick figures with M-16s dotted-lining Godzilla-headed monsters.

Dare I predict that this pic of a paddleum-(did I spell that right?)-wielding chappy will be making appearances on the posts of future transgressors? No words, just BAM! pic of chappy in yo face.

Really, it'd be cool if you could draw our avatars. I have a splendid image in mind for a Marshal Severarse.

As for the rest of you... bring on more Templar art!

So I put a whole day of work into drawing an intricate, complex picture, and I get one response. A few cartoons get me three times the praise...plebeians :P

Just joking, of course. Maybe. You never know :D

Firepower you are awesome.

Sooo tempted to sig this, but I've got so many already :teehee:

Yes, you should. I did intend for this to be a community thread after all (so I wouldn't have to do all the work, of course ;)).

Hehe well, honestly it was more like half an hour, but I was inebriated at the time...

I'm thinking of using the Jasper-pic smackdown as a trademark, but I can easily see myself abusing it to save time on writing out actual responses, and I'm always nervous about overreaching my disciplinary bounds.

I'm tossing around the idea of drawing a few of our more (in)famous brethren, like M2C, Eberious, Acebaur, Laeroth and our beloved Moderators. But it also sounds like a lot of work, which has me thinking twice :teehee: It may be easier if I just do silly cartoony versions...

I'm loving the artwork in this thread, Brothers. I would join in, but sadly my artistic talent does not lie in the realm of organic shapes, such as people (or Battle-Brethren, as the case may be). Perhaps I could sketch up a Templar Thunderhawk in between life and working on my LPC vow, though...

You should make a drawing of Jasper to use as your sig!

Thought for the day: Work is Prayer. :P

Haha... that's a fair point. I did like the other one, you've got skillz, but I didn't want to fill any one head with too much praise!

Well, I'm a fine example of an unnoteworthy, un(in)famous nobody, but if you'll notice, I have no cartoony pic for my avatar yet.... (None of the emoticons come close to the cheesy, face-covering grin I wanted to insert here.)
