Trollzarro
Can anyone offer any helpful links/explanation as to why the Imperial Guard named their tank after the Primarch? postal105
bealive it or not the space wolves used to be allowed to use Leman Russ tanks but my guess is to honor our Primarch Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246293-leman-russ-tank/#findComment-2979951 Share on other sites
Trollzarro
Yeah, I've read that in previous codices. Wish we still could! I'm just curious as to why the IG decided to name their tanks after the Space Wolves Primarch instead another such as Dorn, Khan, or Manus for examples. Frostblade
The original reason, if I remember correctly, is that back in the RT days, Leman was a famous commander of the Guard, so they named a tank after him. It wasn't until they fleshed out more of the back story that they made Leman a primarch. It is entirely possible I am misremembering things, though. Kalamadea
years ago I remember reading a bit of fluff that during the Great Crusade the Space Wolves rediscovered the STC templates for the tank, but Leman Russ recognized that Space Marines had no real need for a main battle tank and it was much better suited to the Imperial Guard, so when he gave it to them they named it in his honor. Jimmy Carmine
The rules that we use in our games http://htmlimg1.scribdassets.com/3egseqxhz...-7d9ea208d7.jpg  It looks like your GW link is broken, was this from the Games Workshop website originally? I do love the bit that reads Any model may exchange its heavy bolter for: Heavy Bolter free.
