Nicely done. It's a very striking model - very clean lines, and the colors aren't terribly muddied. Aside from preternatural brush control, how'd you get everything looking so smart?

My one suggestion is that now that you've proved your skills with the basic model, don't be afraid to personalize them a bit. Parchment, flayed skin, skulls, reliquaries of particularly notable Dark Apostles, what have you. If you think you might be overdoing it at times, just ask yourself: what would Lorgar do?

thanks man, i just water down my paint so it spreads without streaking, if it goes on thick then i water my brush and go back over it.. i end up doing 4 or 5 coats on certain parts, like shoulder pads and legs, but other areas can get away with less coats.

i might play arouns with some of the line troopers, i wasnt planning on doing too much with the CSM but have been thinking about how to pretty up thier rhinos.. pimp my ride Lorgar style :D

my camera memory card broke today, so im stck for taking pics til i can get a replacement.. however i have got another 19 chaps all basecoated, drilled and ready for thier colours, it wouldnt take long to add a few skulls, chains and purity seals etc

ive also kitbashed my dark apostle

ill update as soon as my camera feels better, thanks for your comments chaps

On a side note your recent WB calling have anything to do with the event? :P

kind of.

i have been playing chaos for about a year now, and have struggled with my DIY hosts colour schemes.

i have considered switching to an established legion/warband for some time, but never took the leap

the event on febuary 18th piqued my interest although i refuse to go to my local GW to take part, too many kids and walkng biohazards for my tastes (plus its always disorganised).

i want to include a large game on june 2nd/3rd at nottingham (this years ultra-meet) and plan to take about 4k worth of chaos if they are done in time.

so in a way the event did make me choose word bearers, but so did the colour scheme

the UM event gives me impotus to get the models paited and based, lets see how i fare

replacement memory card was purchased today so i snapped off some shots of my kitbashed dark apostle.

i was going for 'chaplain gone bad', im sure he will look better painted.

ive also been working on my aspiring champions and a third squad of CSM, i now have 30 models awaiting thier colours, pics of unpainted champs tomorrow hopefully.

hi all

ive been working on my daemon prince, and although i like the armour, im not sure the skin tone is a good match to the red.

I think I agree with you, perhaps a light blue/grey mix would be a good contrast? Plus I think that colour suggests to me very old skin that hasn't seen natural light for a long time...

The green is better suited for something Nurglesque if you ask me ;)

Greys, especially dark grey is a good colour contrast for Word Bearers Daemon Princes. Looking forward to see how it turns out.

Very nice Word Bearers GC08 :Troops: Any updates on the squad that were basecoating a few days back?

Thanks brother Ludovic, due to work i wont be able to get any pics sorted until tuesday lunchtime (GMT), however ive now got 17 of the little chaps in various stages of completion.

Lovin the Cthulu DP GC08.

Heh, you noticed that :Elite:

its a relic from my old DIY warband, but i puit alot of work and oney into that conversion so figured id keep it in as a WB prince.

Speaking as a closet WB fan you've done a great job on these so far mate, the red is seriously nice and the lighter base on the test mini really makes him pop.

thanks man, its was probably seeing them on the front of A D-Bs TFH that sold it for me, those possessed CSM look awesome

i think im sold on the greys, justa matter of getting it done, the cold weather has robbed me of some of my paints, so im hoping i can scrounge some from my brother in order to do him justice

a quick update on my daemon prince.

its not completely finsihed (very time consuming), i think firestorm40k was right about the blue/grey.

here he is:

i will say, when i made this beastie, i gained an appreciation for sculptors.. its far more an art form than painting is.
