My only criticism would be that the hue of his cape clashes a bit too hard with the rich red of his armor. Maybe consider doing black? greatcrusade08 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Share Posted August 24, 2012 good evening chaps, im resurecting an old thread. im not sure if my absence has been noted, but give or take the odd post every few days ive largely been absent from the B&C abnd especially this forum in particular. anyway i had largely given up on my chaos, i wasnt as excited about them as i once was, i felt the dex they had was very one dimensional and boring. with the release of all the new dex rumours and the changes from 6th ed, i felt GW had breathed some life back into chaos and got my blood pumping again. so when firestorm40k (legion of taurus and allround cool guy) started a campaign at my local club i decided to switch from my usual emperor botherers to join his legion of taurus in battle with my word bearer force. im hoping the new dex will be out by then, but even so ive planned to buy 2 of the new dark vengeace boxed sets and ive recently made a few purchases to bloster my chaotic dudes. anyhoo i picked up my red and silver paints are renewed the long trek to get this force painted, im pretty sure many others are in the same boat.. too many models to paint in one lifetime :huh: so here goes, heres my progress over the last two weeks, all C+C is welcomed. i did say i was going to pimp some rides http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/001-27.jpg sorry aboutt he 'haze' had some moisture on the lens, didnt notice at the time. ive only done the top and front, the sides havent been highlighted yet, and ive got to do the detail stuff at some point, lights, guns etc i figured with the new rules a TDA lord would go down nice, and for a little more than GWs asking price i brought this chap from Scibor http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/002-30.jpg http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/004-24.jpg http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/005-20.jpg http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/006-19.jpg http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/009-11.jpg i went with a darker cloak colour, someone a while back suggested the purple clashed and im kinda agreeing with that asessement now, the midnight/regal blue looks pretty good IMO and let me go with a grey for the fur as opposed to browns which IMO would get lost in a sea of red. ive done his face, the flash makes it look a litte weird, but it looks better in the flesh, so to speak :P im a long way from finished on him, his right arm (holding the weapon) is all but finished, but the rest of him is just base colours at the moment, i also need to go over the heads to make them looker paler and 'deader' i was going to try a two tone highlight scheme, but with these reds, i feel the single sharp contrast really works.. and if it aint broke why fix it? one thing i had noticed is the huge scale of this model, i think he was intended as a primarch, but if i left him of his 3" base he seems to make a decent daemonic-esque lord. heres a pic with his bodyguards for scale http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/007-16.jpg his guards (4 termies) will all have matching cloaks, but my god the price of those things over the ebay/bits sites.. its crazy, could have brought a whole new box of termies for the price i paid for those. anyway i digress i also brought some nifty new resin bases for the termies, ive got one done http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww87/greatcrusade08/008-13.jpg so there it is, i hope to get more done on the lord and termies this weekend edit: btw a note on the rhino, i got the templates from among subtle discords work, much obliged my friend Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
