Dennis
As the description says, a new year, a new challenge a new vow! This topic will be to track my LPC, after the challenge is over this will become my new WiP thread. Emperor's Champion, Chaplain In Progress Contemptor Dreadnought Finished 10 initiates In Progress 2 Neophytes In Progress 2 Rhino's Landspeeder Droppod As infamous as I am here in the subforum, in other local forums and at my gaming club for never finishing any miniature, I have challenged me a big vow! With the new codex rumoured to be released this year combined with a few weeks of vacation at this time inspired my to do this big task! Dennis
Thanks guys, I try to make every marine unique. Where is that two handed sword from? The sword is from the Empire general, with some GS filling the runes :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246370-crusaders-in-black/#findComment-2982480 Share on other sites
Marshal Reinhard
Indeed it is, but I will prevail! Here the first upcoming pic of the Contemptor, the head :pinch: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/Contemptorhead2.jpg Typically not a fan at all of white helmets on black templar, but what is this? This great feeling of suspense and anticipation that I will see something awesome? You better hurry up or it'll kill me! That aside, your modeling skills are superb, this is one crusade I will continue to watch with great interest. Dosjetka
Wow. That white is so crisp. How did you paint it? Dennis
@Battle-Brother Ludovic It is the same recipe I use for my bone colours (as seen on the pic below). Simple breakdown: Snake Bite Leather, Devlan Mud wash, SBL again, SBL/Bleached Bone, BB on its own and then BB/Skull White. Between SBL and pure BB there are several of thin layers with increased BB to the SBL mix. Here a pic of one of my initiates that I finished before the vow (my avatar!), I will repaint him a bit (the black armor only). http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Initiate.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246370-crusaders-in-black/#findComment-2982823 Share on other sites
Dennis
Legs are finished. He's coming out way worse on these pics than it is in real life (hard to take good photos atm with dark days). Anyway, I see some minor adjustments I need to take care of (base mainly), but the legs of the contemptor itself are done. Currently busy with the torso but sjeeeesh.. that's a lot more complicated! :D http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/contemptor02.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/Image2-10.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246370-crusaders-in-black/#findComment-2983688 Share on other sites

Dennis
Really like the damage on the black, and LOVE the freehand (assuming it is?) on his left kneepad. It is freehand indeed. That checker pattern is the 'crusade badge', the other crusade badge on his left knee is an honour marking for his heroic deeds in another crusade, which eventually led in a victory ;) Your Templars are excellent! The Contemptor is amazing! Keep it up and give us more!!!! You've only seen the head and the legs..! You don't even know the full pose! Haha, but thanks. If you want to see how the pose is going to end you can see my first post and you can see the torso lying on the table there.. ;) I will do my best to finish the contemptor before the end of this weekend! Dennis
No, just a normal initiate with CCW and boltpistol. It is no powerweapon or some sort, powerweapons will be painted differently. As a matter of fact, this is how the chaplain itself stands now (wanted to paint something different): http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/Chaplain01.jpg As you can see his other arm is magnetized, want enough options for gaming purposes! Dennis
Torso is from one of the guards from the FW Sevrin Loth set. Sevrin himself has become my champion :) I wanted to finish the base, and here is how he stands now: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/contemptor04.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Black%20Templar/contemptor05.jpg I will be weathering the feet/legs a little more with the powders, then it is waiting 'till the torso is finished! Dennis
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/sleepybear/Contemptor.jpgSo he's finally done. Skyrim had me on chokehold for almost 2 weeks, I higly DISrecommend this game to anyone who wants to get their stuff finished for the LPC... Anyhow, there are some things I will do different on my future contemptors. Even though I don't think the battledamage is looking horrible, it was the first time I did it this way. I also think I overdid some of the battledamage on some parts... I will however, practice more on the zenithal highlighting of black armor, that is a thing that will return on future 'big' projects! Now I'm back to my 8'ish initiates that are screaming for attention.. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246370-crusaders-in-black/#findComment-3001218 Share on other sites
