7 Mile
The idea is giving the enemy a real target rich environment forcing them to split fire. The plan is to overload their capabilities in a bunch of places over a short period of time. Will it work? Against most forces I hope so. I'm finding my toughest opponent has been GK players wielding crowe and swarms of purifiers, Init 6 hammerhand spam PW is ROUGH. Too bad space wolves can't add runes of warding to their repertoire. Here is the list: HQ Wolf Lord: 220 2 wolves, thunderwolf, frostblade, storm shield Elites 5 Wolf Scouts: 110 melta bombs, melta gun 6 Wolf Guard: 343 Drop pod, 1w/ thunder hammer, combi-melta, 5w/ TDA, 4 frostblades, 1 chainfist, 1 storm shield, 1 cyclone missile launcher. (mixed up for handy-dandy wound allocation) Troops 10 Grey Hunters: 220 Drop pod, 2 meltas, motw, power weapon 10 Grey Hunters: 220 Drop pod, 2 meltas, motw, power weapon 10 Grey Hunters: 215 Rhino, 1 flamer, 1 melta, motw, power weapon 10 Grey Hunters: 215 Rhino, 1 flamer, 1 melta, motw, power weapon Fast Attack 5 Thunderwolf Cavalry: 315 1 w/thunder hammer, storm shield, 1 w/ melta bombs Heavy Support 6 Long Fangs: 140 5 Missile Launchers Total model count is 70 I'll admit that it lacks much in long ranged firepower. But w/ the drop pods the melta spam should be sufficient, along with the cyclone that the WG run, then there is the scouts to jump units that hide/tanks camping too close to a board edge. The WL and T-Wolves will definitely get some attention too if the enemy knows whats good for them, leaving other units hopefully free run rampant along their back lines. Gk will still be a problem though pretty sure, depending on how they are built. Logan230
It looks solid to me. My only question is where does that 6th guard go? He cant travel in the Drop Pod, so is he going with the scouts? You are right in that it is light on the heavy guns side of the equation, but it is still possible for this list to reap some nice tallys. 7 Mile
Yeah, into the scouts he goes. Something I've been running with my scouts for a while, 43 points for the t-hammer, multi melta and PA guy all rolled into one. Seems like a good deal. Not to mention having the second melta shot is nice if you aren't close enough to charge or there is something that could use the extra oomph to take it down. Just bought the drop pods and had a few games in running them. They work pretty well. Don't think I would ever run more than 3 though.
