hello my brothers.

mho about frost weapons is:

they fit the wolves nicely

their more i am going rip you to piece's way of battle.

the freedom of making up your own version(spear, mace, glave ect.)

their pride in ther wargear and the status of them, makes me want them even if they dont work.

but they do work, not always but even the simple fact that a model has one makes it good

i use them for my WG pack leader, lone wolf and wolf lord.

what do you think? do they work or are they more for show and looks?

and what unit do you give them?

greets

They work the best on Wolf Guard, Thunder Calvary, Battle Leaders, and Wolf Lords.

Can you imagine 10 Wolf Guard with Frost Weapons with Ragnar Blackmane with Str 6 on the charge? Its awesome. Even more amazing in a 1000 point list and packed in a Land Raider Crusader. It was a dirty list.

Frost Blades are cool, but they fall short of Wolf Claws, IMO. The only time I take a Frost Blade is when I'm not taking a Storm Shield. If I'm keeping the model's Pistol, I'll take the FB for the extra attack. Most of the time, though, I'll take the WC if I want a model to strike at Init and I'm taking a SS or some other non-Pistol in the other hand. Math-hammer says that the WC produces a slightly better Attacks-to-Wounds ratio in most situations one is going to find. I believe the FB only gets better odds when fighting T6 or better.
atm I'm sorting out a coupla WG with frost weapons - one with a storm shield and the other (who shall become my company standard bearer) with a simple bolt pistol - these plus another guy who has a storm bolter means I've got a nice spread that can fit with the rank-and-file grey hunters, whilst being pretty overlooked by my opponents.
A Wolf Claw re-rolling wounds is statistically better than a Frost weapon against everything T7 and below. Add to that the ability to use the re-roll on to-hits as needed, and lower cost of the Wolf Claw leaves one big advantage on the side of the Frost Weapon - +1A when paired with another CCW. I use both depending on the situation, unit, and points available.
I love him on my lord and the re-role to wound or hit on a claw is negated by a always hit on 3+ amulet and his +1S

Not really, both of those also apply to Wolf Claws. A model with a WTK, +1S, and Wolf Claw is still 5pts less than a model with WTK, +1S, and Frost Weapon - and the benefits still stack up the same - just at a higher level.

Except you cant have +1S with a wolf claw?

A Lord on a Thunderwolf mount (+1S) can buy a Wolf Claw.

Any unit with a Wolf Claw (Str X, re-roll) will statistically wound as well as the same unit with a Frost Weapon (Str X+1) instead. It always comes down to the :

Possibility of re-rolling to-hits as needed, -5pts cost vs. +1A w/ 2CCWs.

I simply prefer the route of is it fluffy, is it fun to play with --- (don't get any ideas ;) haha) - then I'll take it ;)

Once I tried the mathhammer lark but it got swept under my carpet of boredom and caring too much about winning - I prefer my wolves to win through luck, might and the dice gods  - I do still tailor lists to opponents (not going to use pure flamers and heavy bolters vs mech armies) as I like winning and gaining some ale :D but it's about the fun for me :) - but whichever works for you.

Also Off-Topic dswanick can I borrow that there lower sig? it cracks me up everytime I read it xD

And it's alot easier to pen vehicles with a Frost Blade. And Lords on a TW inflict insta-death on T3 models (Eldar, SoB and DE chars).

There is not much of a difference between frost weapons and wolf claws, both have their advantages. If you're not playing against specialized T3 CC-specialists with WS5 or less (which happens not that often) the abillity to re-roll hits won't be much of an advantage, if you play against Tau, Sisters or IG you would rather decrease your killing output so you'll get stuck in CC in your own assault phase (instead of killing the whole enemy unit) preventing your opponent to shoot you in his turn. If you prefer Frost Weapons over Wolf Claws because of the looks and the cool factor and you got the 5 pts. to spend you won't do anything wrong if you use one of these.

They are great against 4+ toughness armies, had ragnar with a WG squd that had frost weapons and ss wipe out my friends BA army. Tore up his assualt terminator squad, assualt squad, remains of a death company squad with lemartes, and sanguinor. Only lost one WG the entire time.
