The Tyrant of Badab

Hey all. Those of you who read the title will already have the basic idea as to what I've challenged myself with. I've already made a homemade Sicarius as I wasn't fond of the GW model for him, and I intend to do something similar here with the FW Huron. Don't get me wrong however, I love the FW model, I just wanted to do my own :D

Without further ado, Let's begin!

Here's how he stands now. The basic idea is to have him in a similar pose to Horus when he is standing off against the Emperor in Adrian Smith's artwork. I always thought Huron would identify with Horus. The basic pieces I used at this stage are just AoBR terminator bits which I've repositioned into a more up-right position to add height.

To add more height, there's only one thing that beats a nice big rock as per the FW model; A dead servant of the Corpse God! In this case a dead Red Scorpion Commander armed with a power fist and combi plasma.

This was my favourite part of the FW model so it's important to me to get it right. Plus it looks boss! THE CLAW!... sorry... anyway I made this bad boy out of a few power fists carved into shape and pinned together. I intend to do every detail, down to the lion shaped talons on each finger and the lightening claw on the top.

No progress has yet been made on the lion's head on his right shoulder pad but it's all part of the process.

I'll keep you posted.

Comments welcome :)

It does indeed look boss. Judging by your skills I've seen in your other thread I'd be very interested in seeing where this goes. No doubt a characterful and unique version of Huron. :D

Hello all!

I cannot apologise enough for the ridiculously delayed updates on this project. I'm afraid I have been bogged down in uni work and when I've not been doing that I've been finishing off my Astral Claws army. Stupidly however I left my unfinished Lugft Huron in my halls at uni when I went home for a while. As a result I have been unable to do any work to him at all... until the past few days.

Here's a few picks of how he's developed since then;

Tuesday afternoon.

This afternoon to about twenty minutes ago.

I finally found the right head for him which is the company master's head from the fine cast dark angels kit. The arms and head are just blue tacked on at the moment. I will continue working on him tomorrow and will probably finish by Easter Sunday evening.

Once again sorry to everyone who took an interest in this project some months ago only to have it stop. Hopefully the progress I've made in the past few days will stay your wrath :D

Comments welcome as usual

Looks sweet, although I must say that head has an upper lip made for a 'tache. MADE for it! It's a shame this has to be a Lufgt Huron model. :ermm:

I like the model a lot. I always sigh with admiration and jealousy when I see gs work like that, especially the shoulders :ermm:

I really love this. Looks great, and comes across as really imposing.

How much of the flamer did you sculpt? Did you build it around something, or (aside from the obvious plastic parts) did sculpt it all?

I think the base looks really impressive too.

Hey guys!

Thanks so much for your positive responses! I'm frankly honoured by the amount of encouragement :lol: This model has been a great break from sculpting commissions. I look forward to returning to commissions, don't get me wrong. I just like making something I love which I can keep this time :lol: Any way without further ado, an update!

*Brother Chaplain Kage; I couldn't agree more. I made him tall but not wide so I'm going to employ one or two tricks to make him seem wider than he is in the torso such as adding purity seals which break up the shape and various other details.

*Huberticus; The heavy flamer arm is the librarian terminator arm from space hulk with two flamer heads, one flamer tube, one meta fuel tube, a melta head (fuel cannister), a skull from the land raider kit and a pin. The rest is GStuff.

*Olisredan; I would that I could give him a big fat moustache just like the vostroyan sergeant but alas I think he looks more menacing clean shaven.

Not quite as menacing as this Lion head which I sculpted onto his right shoulder pad this morning while waiting for the post man;

I swear he's going to eat someone with his shoulder pad one game...

I'm very happy with how it turned out myself. I made the lion properly roaring which is why it's set higher up the shoulder pad than the FW one but I didn't like the 'panting' look of the original. Accordingly an angry looking roaring lion was more suitable.

I've also started the rope detail on the chest which I will continue this evening once it's set properly;

Tonight I will post a full update, probably later rather than earlier in the evening to be honest but it will come. Tomorrow I have the task I've been dreading this whole project; finishing the lion's claw!

Comments welcome.
