HQ, witch one?

Hello, I am wondering what HQ I should runn in my drop pod list.

I am planing on using 7 drop pods in a 1750 list.

From what I can see I have 4 options to run him:

1: Saga of the hunter with scouts. (Not ideal, ouer gaming club has woted that behind enemy lines seases to function if joined by a unit. Let us not discuss this ruling or this rule here please.)

2: A character with a jump pack running up the table hiding behind terain. (Cute, but good?)

3: A hero on a bike. Requiers swiftclaw bikers. (Will be nice as backup since I can get a second turn charge. The oponent will bunch up vs the drop pod.)

4: In a drop pod. Charge as late as the second turn, but probably later.

What do you suggest?

i would go with a unit of bikers with a wolf priest. and i only go bare bones on my bikers no fancy upgrades besides a power weapon. but that is my way of running bikers and it is what i would do if i was running a drop pod list. either that or a unit of thunderwolf cav with a wolf guard battle leader.

but i am an aggressive space wolf player if your a defensive player then my idea will not work well for you.

Before anyone can truly give you an answer/suggestion.... I have to ask what your play style is at first. Are you am aggressive wolf or a defensive wolf?

there are a couple viable options

-a rune priest; this chap will give you that anti psycher defence where you need it, using murderous hurricane he can also slow down units that move towards your droppodders. stormcaller can give your unit a decent coversave when they drop out (posssibly multiple units if they land within 6" while jaws will allow you to try and snipe certain models.

-a wolf lord: tooled up as you like, he is DA BOSS afterall

-wolf guard battle leader: lord light

-wolf priest; this guy will not change the pack its' inital force when they drop down, but when you like to pick a lord i often just pick this badboy instead. 100pts for a guy that already has a powerweapon and an inv save is gold! not to mention he'll boost the unit he joins a lot with the reroll. the only downside is that you can't dictate what type of unit will be charging you

It would be nice to know what units you're dropping, but I have to +1 Postal's suggestion. Wolfpriest + swiftclaws is a nasty combination that can be quite flexible. Tailor the unit to help fill one of the gaps in your list, whether that's anti-horde, anti-tank, or anti-MEQ. Small units, 3-6 + WP, can fulfill one of the roles and support a dropping squad in close combat against a larger/tougher enemy unit. Good luck!

Ghaaa... This forum is not the "army list forum" but I can se why having the list is making it relevant for what I am asking.

I Ran Brad with wolves from imperial armour. The resoult is that Bran and the small GH unit (who becomes scouts) come in late and do nothing because the backup is to late. My local meta is a lott about mech, meaning everybody has melta 'a plenty. My Dreadnoughts should not be there due to the fact that they die very easaly (it is like landing in a hornets nest.) I realy like the drop pod consept but I need to learn how to play it, and I need a better list. (Scouts and multimelta landspeeders sounds like a sound includment as my puny 7 melta is usualy very little.)

Bran, Redmaw- 210pts.

Dreadnought, Flamer, EA, Multi Melta, Drop Pod- 165pts.

Dreadnought, Flamer, EA, Assault Cannon, Drop Pod- 165pts.

Dreadnought, Flamer, EA, Assault Cannon, Drop Pod- 165pts.

10 Grey Hunterss- Power Weapon, 2xMeltagun, Drop Pod- 205pts.

10 Grey Hunterss- Power Weapon, 2xMeltagun, Drop Pod- 205pts.

10 Grey Hunterss- Power Weapon, 2xMeltagun, Drop Pod- 205pts.

10 Grey Hunterss- Power Fist, 2x Plasmagun, Drop Pod- 220pts.

5 Grey Hunterss- Power Weapon, Meltagun- 95pts.

14 Fenrisian Wolves- 112pts.

ditch bran, he's becomen a ridiculous character now anyway with the transforming back and forward again.

now i must say that's a pretty small grey hunter pack, how about giving them a plasma gun and making them your home base objective keepers together with a long fang pack. if you ditch bran you can easely fit in a long fang pack+either a wolfpriest or runepriest

Post it later then. :-)

Q. Can an Independent Character that has joined a

Wolf Scouts pack outflank? (p27)

A. No, unless he has the Saga of the Hunter, or another

special rule, which allows him to outflank

Which interacts with BEL since the scouts are making USE of their outflank, which is a key part of the BEL rule

If a Wolf Scout makes use of its ability to outflank.....

The character has the ability to outflank and the Stealth rule
