Decoy

Recommended Posts

I am Decoy. I have been here in the Fang for seven years.

I am the Dice God of Insane Luck. I am a master tactician, endlessly theorizing every potentiality. I am a writer and a fluff-hound of the Space Wolves Chapter. In these ways, I am long in the tooth.

I am a terrible modeller. I am a gods-awfully arrogant Wolf Supremecist. I am annoying and boastful and over-the-top. I have the painting skills of a five year old and my ability to use green stuff is only matched by my ability to do complex irrational mathematical equations. In -these- ways, I am a whelp.

I am Decoy. I am a Whelp.

I'm calling to every dweller in the Fang, be you newbie or lurker. Here, now is the time to make yourselves known. Come, come from the shadows and join us by the fire! Tell us your tales, fellow Wolves and visitors! Tell us of your great deeds and horrible failures, tell us of your conquests and tell us of your hobbies! There is room for all at the Fireside, be you long in tooth or short in pelt!

If you've ever felt the desire to step into the light for your moment to shine, it is now. Come, sit by the Everpyre. *leans back, kicking his feet up on an empty ale cask*

Now, I know you're reading, Danvers. How about you give us a rundown? *offers up an empty tankard* Ale's behind the counter.

I'll bite Decoy.

Evening brothers. I am Mr. Danvers. I've happily enjoyed being a wolf brother for too many years now, probably in the region of about 15 if my recollections are correct. Always been one for sitting in the shadows grumbling to myself when it comes to forums. It's a bit of that in real life, but I'm usually far more sarcastic, hence part of the reason I refrain from posting so often. I tend to make comments that hit like a thunder hammer on a fire warrior sometimes; doesn't always go as planned.....

I'd say I'm a fairly compentent modeller, vastly lacking in the painting ability to back it up. Everytime I see work by DV8, my soul dies a little more inside! I haven't had a game of 40k in a fair while now, so it's mainly been writing fluff and planning my army at the moment. I can land a drop pod wherever you want it, but can't hit the side of a battlewagon with a bolter. That's why I go for up close and personal with my Wolves.

I too am also a Whelp.

Now, to pour out some Mead. No, really. There's a bottle right here. Anyone care for some?

Decoy, you're a good man. Just had to put that out there.

I've been lurking b&c for years, though in the past I tended to stick around the more 'chaotic' boards. I suppose you could say I'm forgetful, as when I eventually came back after a hiatus, I had forgotten my login, and even what email address was used, so I remade.

The fang and it's posters are at least a little responsible for my starting wolves, this board is much more interesting with all of you here.

I'm a modeler and painter of... half decent ability, but am first to admit there is much room for improvement. I love making lists, even though in my current state I have literally no one to play with. When I did play, I held my own, even if it was an informal gaming group and the odd single store tournament for nothing more than bragging rights with friends.

I'm a writer, but have never posted anything here, I'm not sure why. I have a tendency to only post if I feel I have something genuinely constructive to add.

I think it's ignorant for anyone to believe themselves better than another. Really, we're all whelps in one way or another. That belief is what drives us to improve ourselves. I'm currently trying to be a better painter, the examples laid out here are the biggest inspiration anyone could ask for.

Ever since I could grow one, I've had a beard, and I'm proud to be a wolf.

I am hendrik, greybeard, whelp, sagateller and packbrother of maverik!

I'm viewed as a greybeard by many having earned this title by contributing by writing the occasional saga and following our fluff to the letter, helping out members when they seek guidance in it. the only reason i play the space wolves is because of their fluff, in fact their current paintsheme was the thing that made me say "i'm never going to be a babyblue space wolf" when i painted my first space marine ever completly boltgunmetal. then my smaller brother said he wanted to play 40k too and together we embarked on a younrey of the "taumarines", a horrible crossover between astartes and tau. we were young (12-13 i believe) and unknown to the lore of 40k we started an army. atleast we believed it was an army since neither of us understood english and we used all our savings to buy blisters that looked cool. as i grew older i got more into the lore of 40k since now i actually could read a dex while understanding it! and in an effort to understand the whole 40k world i tried collecting every codex. it was then that i fell in love with the wolves, mainly because of the black and white artwork. atleast these space wolves weren't babyblue! having aquired a chaos army in a trade for my lotr miniatures i started removing all khorne marks and painted my models babyblue since i believed that was the only coloursheme there was for the wolves. still playing on a budget i also started making my army codex legal and i joined the B&C, mostly to see how others painted their army and for tips and tricks. i then discovered my wolves didn't need to be babyblue and so i repainted them into a self mixed grey. needless to say i never got the painting consistent throughout the army and since most of them were already made of hacked up chaos models i slowly started on a REAL space wolves army. offcourse you cannot believe how glad i was when GW released a foundation paint called fenris blue! nevermore would i need to mix up my own paints and ever since then my wolves have been wearing their foundation coat.

I'm a whelp because of my age! heck i joined the wolves when i was 14-15 i believe using their third edition dex thoughout 4th and 5th edition sticking to it. when the new dex almost hit us some members here deemed me worthy of growing my beard and eversince i've been called greybeard.

I'm an old archaic wolf that still sticks to the old ways, using only what was possible in our last codex. non of this thunderwolf cavalery nonsense for me! (what actually turned into a hilarious fact since one of the sagas has me riding one of those lunacies!)

So I am Hendrik, a whelp, greyhunter and packleader, but most of all I am a member of the FANG!

I am Forte. Blood Claw with Bjorn Stormwolf's Great Company and have never instigated any forum based brawls or defaced any passed out Marine from any chapter. I also fully deny every leading any other Blood Claws in any antics what so ever :P

Who am I trying to kid. I seem to have formed a double act of mayhem with Arez 'Greenhorn' and fully consider Nrth, Postal, Skadi, Mac and far to many others to name here as pack mates and friends. Everyone here has taught me something or inspired me in some way.

As for Save Wolves and me. I am truly a whelp. I dabbled when Ulrik was first released but at that point I was working in Londons GW store on Oxford Street and was put off by a few of the Space Wolf players I met (who luckily I now know do not represent SW and were just power gamers). My first ever issue of WD was when the Leman Russ model was released so I am far from a pup in real life. I've played Chaos, Orks, Marines, Mods and crons over the years but lately its been this forum which has kept me with Wolves.

I'm now 34. Have 3 sons. Rarely have time to play games or paint but I try thanks to those here. I did lots of role playing while growing up. I have a typical English sense of humour. Sarcastic, insulting and after borderline abusive.

I'm a Blood Claw and proud to see you all as my pack. Short term, long term, lurker or regular.

Sorry about the brief departure, brothers, my dearest fiancee had to... erm... give me a haircut. -.-

Anyways, I must off again. I sleep rarely, for all of about twelve hours a week, and I have to squeak in a few hours before work. I mean not to "leave you in the lurch" so to speak, but I will offer up a hearty "HAIL!" to all, who both have posted, and will post. I salute you all, Wolfbrothers, both lurker and not, and I hope to see you all here fairly soon. Within a day, at any rate.

Be well, brothers, until next time.

Danvers, Wardiel, well met brothers! Have an ale on me.

I can speak as a former lurker myself. I joined in '09, but lurked as a guest on this forum for atleast a year and a half before that. Trust me, it's much better beside the hearth. I am an aspiring saga maker who suffers from a singular inability to finish any one project. My cash supplies are small and so is my Great Company, but I pride myself on kitbashing/modelling. By contrast, I can't paint to save my life. I rarely get in a game, but when I do it's with my footsloggers, fighting as Russ intended. I am an amateur military historian and am absolutely fascinated by tactical simulations like Wh40k. At any given time there are a half dozen rule books beside my bed and a few experimental ones I'm writing on the desk. I love the sense of comaraderie we have here in the Fang; it's why I stay in this increasingly expensive hobby. Seeing as I'm about half of Forte's age, I am most certainly a whelp.

Whose next?

Well met brothers! I bring mead, and may it fill you with cheer!

I am commander alexander. I have as many names and versions of myself as there is ugly on an ork. I am a post whore, not only cheap, but free. I lurked for quite some time before I joined the B&C, and as you can see, once you get me to talk, I don't shut up. I started playing with Dark Angels, they were my first introduction to 40k. Dark and bleak times until a friend introduced me to the 3rd Editon SW codex. I fell in love then, but I never started an army until the new 'dex was released. I am a decent modeller and painter, but I am lord of procrastination. I love the lore and artwork of our beloved chapter, that and painting is what keeps me coming back. I don't play often, and I win even less, but I only play to have fun. I love to read and write fluff. I make mead and knives in real life, as well as attempting to excell in marksmenship (key word attempting).

In many ways I am a whelp, in others aged more than I should be. I like to think of myself as bouncing around somewhere in the middle. I am proud to be a member of the Fang, and I raise my cup to you brothers!

==Edit== Too distracting.

Decoy, It has been a while since I've seen you around here brother.

I am Meatgrinder, I've been in the Fang for 5 years, including an absence on a certain *ahem* Great Hunt. I have been lurking in the shadows since my return to the Fang. I am a competant modeller and painter, for I have spent over half my life at it. Though some techniques still elude me. I enjoy being sarcastic and sly. I adore terminator armour and have nearly 50 of the new models and another 40 of the older breed. I am a bit of a Lone Wolf, many of my old gaming pack having left the game some time ago. I play my wolves far more aggressively than I should, and I have to bite back the urge to rush into hand to hand combat. This comes from many years of playing the 13th company list.

I once tried to improve my dice luck by constructing one of Decoy's dice shrines. True story. It did not work.

I have never once aquired a decent photo of myself or my models.

I may be a whelp, but I'm a whelp with teeth.

finely the one who walked over quietly speaks up i am postal blood claw in no great company in particular.

i don't drink and get rowdy with that hot head forte oh who am i kidding i count forte , arez, nrth , and mavgirl along with many others among my friends and pack mates. i see MavriK ,Hendrik,Grey mage along with Jonas and i cant leave you out decoy to be the ones i look to for advice.

i am a decent painter and not so good at modeling stuff yet working on them both. i look to MavriK for inspiration on how to model things and i look at everyone who posts pictures fro inspiration on how i can make my stuff better.

i have only been playing 40k since 07 so i am still but a pup growing and learning and i know when i have a question i will receive sage advice on these boards

i have a tendency to only speak or make my presence known on these boards when i feel that i have some thing important to add. as for my humor it can be described as dry at best.

i get to play on a rare occasion as i am a 32 year old student of history.

I'm Crimson Devil, and the very first miniature for 40k I ever bought was a Long Fang with Missile Launcher way back in 1994. And for one whole week I was a Space Wolf. When I returned to the hobby shop to purchase the 40k box set I was talked out of the "cheesey broken wolves" and bought Eldar. A decision I have come to regret. Lots and lots of armies later in 2007 I once again became a Wolf. I jumped right into the Fang without introduction and my very first conversation in the Fang involved Decoy. :) Having reread that thread recently, I have to say I was an ass. I've calmed down a lot since then and play mostly for fun again.

I'm a decent painter and modeller. My main issue is picking an army and finishing it.

I am Rhapsody, and although my name boasts my status as a Rune Priest, and actually a whelp. I started playing 40K just over two years ago, but was introduced to Warhammer around 22 years ago. Back then there was no grim dark future, but every issue of White Dwarf I could get my hands on was devoured for every bit of info that I could put to use painting. Flash forward to the afore mentioned two and a tad years later, a good friend gives me a marvelously painted Rune Priest (hence the name) to start my journey. I recently bought some new dice and until then was the best '1' roller this side of, well, anywhere. I suppose it's a bit of a boast, but not one that fills me with pride. As a tactician, I am coming into my own ideas and army lists. As a hardcore WolfWing player, this has provided my with more losses than I care to recall, brothers. I love fluff, any of it. For any game really. But how can you not love the barbaric charisma possessed by the lords of lore (and those of us here on the boards)??!! I am not one to join in the Fang's numerous brawls and what have yous, but believe you me, I read them all and laugh my ass off all the while!! My main love for this game is painting, to which I am not nearly as good as I want to be, but I know that with time comes results. My g stuffing abilities are horrid, I mean really bad. But I can chop up some bits and get them glued together looking quite nice. I can tell that I will be playing Space Wolves for the rest of my life (although I have another army...) and will be praising Russ till that time comes.

End of Line

Great idea for a thread, Decoy, and welcome back; I'm sure the place will be more lively with your return.

Sit around the Everpyre and hear my Saga-

I am Valerian, and I am a Long Fang: I turn 39 years old at the end of this month, and I've been playing 40k now for 23 years! I was a poor 16 year old when my group of high school friends and I started the hobby, so used borrowed models and lots of proxies for those first few years. I didn't actually start collecting my own models until I was 20 or so, and I started with late Rogue Trader/early 2nd Edition era Space Wolves.

I am Valerian, and I am a Rune Lord: Excepting the Black Library works, which I've frankly never been interested in, as far as fiction novels go, I've got access to about everything ever written by the Studio on the Space Wolves. I also have a pretty damned good memory for the details of our background information, so folks know I can usually illuminate the details of obscure bits of Space Wolves fluff.

I am Valerian, and I am a Wolf Priest: I try and help out and mentor and advise the younger/newer players. I ocassionally wander over to the army list section and try to help folks out, and I also developed my Army Building Guide for the same purpose. I know I've wasted tons of money over the years, and do what I can to help Space Wolves players make good choices with what they buy and build.

I am Valerian, and I am a Wolf Lord: I've got a Master's Degree in Military Operational Art and Science, and I taught Combined Arms Warfare at West Point. I also commanded a heavy Cavalry Troop in OIF 1 back in 2003.

I am Valerian, and I am a Grey Hunter: Since I'm an older bloke with a family, kids, and job that keeps me pretty busy, I don't play often anymore. In fact, I've only gotten in 6 games in 5th Edition (although I've won them all, and have had a blast every time). I hope to get more chances to go to the LGS for a game as my kids get a little older and more independent.

I am Valerian, and I am a Blood Claw: Although I really appreciate a well-painted model, I never got the knack for doing it myself, so I can't paint a model worth a damn. Instead, since I and my wife have good jobs, I've gone the easy route and paid others to paint my armies for me. I've used tons of paint commissioning services over the years, so if you have any questions about that, just ask.

I am he_plays_guitar, and I am a Bard, a Poet, a teller of stories, and maker of music. I have been a member on these forums for only a few short years, but have been a lurker for quite awhile. My Great Company is that of Sven Bloodhowl, and my wolves are tattooed and proud. I am ever adding to my Space Wolves, along with my many other armies...as far as power armor goes, the Blood Angels are the only chapter represented on these forums that I don't play. Dark Angels, Templars, Ultra-Smurfs, Imperial Fists and Tiger Claws are my current Space Marine armies...along with Daemons and Chaos marines. But of course, those armies are purely for study, to better learn how to defeat the enemies of Russ :) However, the Space Wolves have the fluff, the lore, the models, and the fun that I most enjoy. I love to convert my models, and I love, love, love to paint...and the Space Wolves are, in my opinion, the best army to do that. Each and every marine is an individual, and that's what I love about them.

My first ever glimpse of 40K was seeing a friend's Dark Angel army. I picked up the codex and was reading the fluff, and I came to the part where the Lion and the Wolf were dueling. I was intrigued, so I found a Space Wolf codex and opened it up to read the fluff, and I instantly fell in love with the fluff, the artwork, the look of the army, and I began to collect my first Space Marines, the Space Wolves.

I enjoy reading about and seeing different people's Space Wolves and how they play, their opinions, their likes and dislikes. This forum, more than any other, is extremely individual about their armies, unlike several cookie-cutter armies that are so common in other Chapters. I love the Space Wolves and I enjoy playing with other members of the Fang, and although my collection is large and varied, I am a Space Wolf at heart.

I Orphus, am a Bloodclaw. Although my first touch with 40K must have been at least 10 years past as a curious one searching through the comics pile at the nearest library and seeing WHITE DWARF and being incredibly confused and awed at why the cover contained a great number of spikey red metal men and had nothing to do with fantasy or white dwarves- I thought it was an epic comic that I thought would be above my understanding (if only I had opened the cover ;) ).

Many years passed and a friend introduced me to the hobby, probably four years ago now. With my brother we all had a mini game (using only the faintest idea of the rules) with three space marines each. I liked the idea of this game but that was as far as it may have got were it not for Dawn of War. Very much a screen gamer this was another step towards the hobby. Being fed snippets of expansion material and being told which race i would prefer due to my playstyle resulted in my fanatical devotion to the Tau Empire (that only waned after loosing straight tabletop game number...8?) and was the reason I did not choose Space Marines when I first walked into Games Workshop. (to be honest, my dead set "I will buy Tau" fanaticism was momentarily shaken by the Dark Eldar Battleforce box so if I had just walked in there thinking "I think I'll start with Space Marines" I would have almost certainly walked out with Dark Eldar :))

What were we talking about? Oh yes XD now I remember!

I Orphus am a lame, mute Rune Priest, gifted many fictionary ideas to write and discuss however the state of my being results in these not communicating well on paper or screen. My fiction could work wonders...if I could write it. I'm not actually lame and mute but I certainly feel like that trying to write something. And the sad thing is my writing can be good :(

I admit, I chuckled at the joke about the 3 Space Wolves with the Krak grenade. I needed something to defeat my opponents and I realised Space Marines could do it. Plain marines? No. Black Templars?...No. Dark Angels...nah. Who is Leman Russ, some Imperial engineer, I guess, cause of the tanks? What's a Primarch? Ohhhhhh. SPACE Wolves!? Hmm, tell me more *le Google*, well, these guys look interesting! Space Vikings! Wait, Blood Angles? What are Blood An-NO! Just no..no. Ok, I think I want Space Wolves. Yes, wolfy marines!

*Some short time after, sig hunting* Found you! Oh, according to people on this forum Space Wolves are getting an update at some point. Well, isn't this a lively discussion I think I might join in ;)

So I get my puppies, put them together and face off Oldcrons- lose. Marginally, not the :) stomping that usually goes on though so an improvement!

I get round to writing an epic story for my Wolf Lord who I still don't have. I paint with an extremely frayed brush. I work up a dark blue colour scheme that ends up being REALLY dark. I am Orphus, I chip in here and there, do as I can.

I am Elithren. #1 space wolves player in my game group, instigator of the "Go big or go home" battlecry on the death or glory option. Originally joined the B&C back in 2008 as black templar(my LGS didn't have a space wolves codex.....) but then took a 2 year break from anything normal, serving a religious mission in So Cal. Got back and jumped right back into 40. Low and behold, my first time into the store I spy a space wolves codex and immediately started reading. I was sold on the cover page alone. Played them ever since!

My modeling skills are pretty good, focusing alot on conversions to make my guys stand out more. You've probably seen some of the models I've posted or will continue to post. If you have any questions on where I got the bits or how I did it, let me know and I'll enlighten you. My paint is not as good as I want it to be, and it is heavily celtic oriented. For the last time, my models are not dark angels......

I play every week with some solid guys at my local LGS. I want to try and make a thread like Mav's to post battle reports and conversion work, but never seem to get around to it. I've read and studdied every pic of SW info short of the rogue trader material(cant get my hands on it) so feel I'm pretty knowledgable to our lore.

Hendrik, you should try out a thunderwolf cavalry. I know you'll like it ^^

Let me introduce myself, I am Pall Ironbear ( otherwise known as Shilly to motorbike forums), general nuisance and no good at RPGs. I have an addiction.

It begins with two books, published in 1990 and they were called "Deathwing" and "Inquisitor". A friend lent them to me and they relieved the boredom between episodes of Red Dwarf. They captured my imagination, and my mother cursed the day I found the nearest GW shop. My modelling skills were bad, painting worse, yet still I aquired more models.

A space marine with a shuriken catapult, the original Landraider......both make me cry when I look at the inch thick layer of paint that is still on them. The first Space Hulk game, the Deathwing expansion The first box of plastic marines I ever bought, built and own some of them still.....yet I only ever played one game of Rogue Trader, but that game was with the wolves

Then the Primordial Evil turned up, I'd discoverd............girls.

So I turned to playing hockey, riding motorbikes and climbing telegraph poles to pay for mead. The main modes of transport always consisted of two wheels. My time wasn't measured in past winters, but the number of visits to emergency departments. At least one trip a great year due to sport or bikes.

Then the time came when someone suggested getting in the front of an ambulance and driving it, rather than being lifted into the back and getting carted away again. But the work took it's toll, and many a sight to be forgotten was etched upon my noggin. Then I went shopping and saw a GW store, felt the pull of the "plastic crack" and ventured inside. Only to leave with a box of WGTDA, glue and a handful of paints. Two weeks later and the store was relieved of a SW battleforce and dex.

I'd somehow gained a little patience in the 15 year break, finding I could actually assemble a miniature without cursing. Unfortunately my painting skills had regressed to the point that cavemen laughed. It was still the same, yet so much had changed

In the last 18 months my "plastic crack" addiction has caused me to buy over 6000pts of Wolves. Play 6 games against a friend who is building a DA force, and lurk in the background of the Aett/Fang/SW subforum. I now attend a meeting of like minded addicts once a week, when shifts allow.

I am a swiftclaw by nature, but with delusions of rising to the rank of Wolf priest.......or just a 30year old, 6'7 tall 19 stone bloke with a "plastic crack" addiction.

*stepping in to the light*

Greetings Brethren,

Thank you Decoy, It's been for too long since sagas were exchanged. I offer mine in exchange for yours.

*Taking a long sip of mjod to moisten my parched throat*

I'm called Gunnlaug Trollbane. My manners are that of a Wolf Scout and my heart is that of a blood claw, even though my hair and beard is starting to turn silver. My heart is restless, and upon occasion I turn away from the hearth and my brothers to walk long walks across the icy fields of Asaheim, staying out side for long periods of time. Though I always return, sooner or later, as I miss my brothers as the wolf I am. As I'm a lumbering behemoth of 6'3" and 315 lbs, I consider Haegr to be my hero (we share the same defect in our geneseed). I have a long enough beard to braid which I wear in twin braids, to honour to way of Fenris.

I turn 38 this spring. I was corrupted to GW in 1989 (if my memory serves me right) through to noble sport of Blood Bowl. One thing led to another (Adeptus titanicus, Man-o-war, Dark future etc.) and so I ended up with the rulebook for 40k in my hands. Soon there after I found the Vlka Fenryka and my fate was sealed. My first and dearmost army. Some would say that I still, after all this time, take the wolves a bit too seriously (Usually they guess my army by glancing at my beard, not asking). I'm a big fan of pen and paper RPG's and with Deathwatch I can finally let out my inner Wulfen.

My modelling skills as about as refined as Haegr's table manners. And my painting skills slightly worse. I play them for I love them, not because I manage to make anything look good. I don't need any excuses to cut threads, a good murder-make is reason enough.

I'm always for RP:ing in Forums so if any of you would ever want to pick a friendly fight, you know where who to come to.

Thanks you for listening.

*Steps out of the light to leave room for the next speaker. Yellow eyes, the color of deep amber, gleaming in the shadows.*

Wolf Lord Kieran. Name was very cool when i thought of it, now kinda wish i was so presumptous to elevate myself to a Wolf Lord. oh well.

Started with the square base game when i lived in South America, found 40k in 2001 when i returned to the US and couldnt find a single square based opponent...so started looking at the round base game.

Saw the Wolf Codex, 3rd ed sitting on the shelf and something clicked. Maybe it was my White Wolf middenheim army in power armor, or the VIKING IN SPACE thing. Dont know. I bought it, and then learned how to play 2nd ed cause thats what the locals enjoyed.

Here in the Fang, I rarely post because by the time i find something worth saying, somebody else has already said it better than me. I actually dislike net forums, so most of my posts are as brief as possible.

Paint wise i am always improvign due to my friend's help, but still dislike most of what i do. (he is ALOT better than i), modeling skills are non-existent. if i cant make it out of chopping bits with my wire cutters and liberal amounts of glue, i dont try it.

I see myself as a fresh Wolf Guard, just earned that right. I know enough of the hobby to help others, i often led my personal pack in gaming, and have a unhealthy love of Black Library recent stuff. I have played every Imperial faction but sisters, but always return to my Wolves. (which i have built, sold, rebuilt and so on 3 going on 4 times.)

I...

AM...

VOLSUNG!

I hail from Blackmane's company. I am Blood Claw, but my hunger for glory and the confidence of ny youth is the secret envy of every Long Fang here, mark my word!

I have been working with miniatures and painting for over 8 years now, but I spent most of my time with Reaper Warlords, Reaper Cavs, and Battletech. I never tried Warhammer beyond painting the odd miniatures or two (both fantasy and futuristic) until my brother suggested I go for Space Wolves. Now I am hooked on painting these mean, drunken, furry, lovable, tough old bastards and loving it!

I am a decent painter, and I love converting miniatures.

My wolf packs grow steadily as each day passes. Our company has taken much casualties. Lord Blackmane is dead, and our troops demoralized, leaderless, defeated. But there is hope yet. Razorbacks and Rhinos are being shipped to Fenris from Mars. Our flagship, the Wolf Child, is in dry-docks, awaiting rearmament. New recruits are flooding in, the finest young warriors from the most fearsome of Fenrisian tribes. It won't be long until our company is at full-strength and we take the fight to the xeno scums and blasphemous chaos filth threatening our people!

To be honest, what brought me to this board was the Inglorious Drunkards thread. Even thought it was light-hearted in nature, it still set the epic, bravado-mood I felt appropriate whenever I painted these bad-asses. ;)

So far, I think this board has been great with providing me with the most relevant responses whenever I felt confused, whether about fluff or game mechanics.

- Looks up from my slumber in the corner of the hall, a set of red eyes the only indication of my presence. When a moment of silence appears, my voice rises to fill the void- I am Khine. -Slowly stepping out of the shadows to stand proudly and respectful before my Brothers and Sister - A wolf of many years who most often prefers his own company and the pursuits of the hunt, but still come when my brother's voices are raised.

I came to this hobby at the turn of the century and to my eternal shame, I started out with those robe loving trickster Dark Angels. Fate however had different plans for this soul. The store I played at closed down, the friends I had once shared joyful hours with moved onto different things and so I hibernated.

It was the fires of the Salamanders that brought me back to the hobby. For a time I was content until the storyteller buried deep down decided it wanted to be set free; so I began on a journey to create my own chapter. What resulted was a fusion of ferocity, cunning, contempt for the way of the ultramarine and most of all, a sense of brotherhood that I had not felt in a long time. It was then that I realised where my true heart lay, with the wolves. Granted I still run with my own chapter, however they too are space wolves at heart and they have served me well.

When I have wisdom to share, I rarely hold back. Although this is the case, I am not long in the fang and I have many years to progress through before I could ever possibly rival some of the great minds of the Fang - Dips his head low-

You have all given me a home that I can call my own, all of you in your own little ways. I thank each and everyone of you from the depths of my once cold heart. -Slips back into the shadows in silence-

Hail fellow Sons of Russ, I am Sven Dragonfire, LongFang on the battlefield of life, but a whelp at the Fang. A lurker you might say, though in truth i have my say when it is important to me, I offer advise when i think it is needed and it has not already been said, and In the past I have offered forward examples of my work but sadly received little comment or encouragement which has probably contributed to my status of lurker.

I began my great hunt through the hobby that is 40k when rogue trader was first released.I had an ad hoc force of Crimson Fists and Space Wolves, but my passion for the Wolves of Russ soon took over and I have played them for almost the last 25 years. I have many other 40k armies, but the Space wolves are my first love.

I am a member of Southend on Sea War Gamers (SSWG) where I am lucky to have many fellow 40k gaming buddies, some of whom are members of B&C. I get to play about once a month, sometimes in some pretty hefty point games. I love to convert models and build scenery , I obviously paint, but its not my favoutite aspect of the hobby, but love to see a completed model on the tabletop, Kicking arse in the name of Russ.

The Fang has become a great source of inspiration, and has changed the style of my army over the last few months. I hope to share more of my work in future posts - feedback welcome.

There are some awesome modellers and painters amongst the Wolves of the Fang. I dont come for the roleplaying or the fluff, (though some has made me laugh and some has been thought provoking), but to learn the from the wise that share their painting , gaming, and modelling wisdom with their Wolf Brothers and for that I thank you all. For Russ.

@Brother Dragonfire - rest assured as a whelp in both aspects I look keanly towards possibly seeing some of your work.

*sits on an empty keg, tankard of Mjod in hand... begins to talk* I am simply a Brother of Russ, I am the 92nd of my Great Company - that of the mighty, belligerent and old Halvar One-Eye, I am a Blood Claw by forum and by life compared to most, picked up my first models at the wee age of 8 admittedly it was the allure of brutal, mindless savages that called to me at the time and I went for the "Big Green Killing Machine" Orks - many years later after noseying at my old man's Rogue Trader/Skullz Special Space Wolf and having a look at the fluff I thought "hey I like savage murderers with a sense of pride, with more living power than Orks and a tad more organisation... lets get these here Spes Wulvs..." that was it and on the release of the 5th Ed. Dex I went out, spend a coupla hundred quid and had my first fluffy wolves.

After seeing the beautiful work done by many but especially DV8, I was hooked and joined the B&C, since then I have spent many happy hours getting helps with army lists, background fluff and painting skills as well as learning just how fun being a Space Wolf can be if that's what you want from it.

So after my rather loooong talk I leave other, older and wiser brethren to speak up...

*raises tankard towards the Hall of the Great Wolf, closes eyes, mutters a silent prayer to Freya and nods off*
