15 Terminators...what to do with them?

As the title suggests, I have 15 terminators and I don't know what to do with them. I've never used them in a list, and I've never even used any Wolf Guard. I'm pretty new to playing Space Wolves, I've been painting and building them and enjoying the models, but haven't played them much. I haven't glued any of the arms on yet, since I don't want to have to rip them off in case I find out that a certain load out isn't used much.

My normal playing style is pretty straightforward, send 2 full squads of Blood Claws up the middle of the board in land raider redeemers with Ragnar and a Wolf Priest, and send 3 rhinos full of Grey Hunters up the sides, with a unit of Sky Claws jumping around where I need them. My Vindicator stays back and hurts stuff. My dreads walk up the board cleaning up the leftovers. But I've never used Terminators, and now I have 3 boxes of shiny new units to use, without any idea of how to use them or how to build them most effectively. I also have Logan, which I've never used.

Any advice from those longer in the tooth than I would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and feel free to suggest using units that I don't have or switching up my list. Or even my tactics. I'm open to suggestions.

my suggestion is go with magnets man what you do is take a small peace of sheet metal glue to to the body of the model at where you glue the arms on and then drill a small hole in the arms and glue a small rare earth magnet into the arms that way you can experiment with different load outs and you have flexibility.

but i find my self fielding 2 with just normal power weapons one with a wolf claw and one with a thunderhammer and all of them have storm bolters so they can shoot at the opposing army as the advance but then again i tend to here lately be fighting more horde army's.

but i would just recommend building one box of them using magnet's so you can play with the load outs every game if you want.

also Ragnar in a unit of wolfguard is just evil as wolf guard have 2 base attacks plus when their with Ragnar they get D3 attacks and their +1 if the have extra close combat weapon as long as you dotn give them a combi-weapon or a bolter on the charge so that is a possibility of 6 attacks on the charge from every man in the wolfguard unit not to mention Ragnar 4 base +D3 attacks all from insane bravado where as him wit blood claws you have there 1 attack base + the 1 for extra close combat weapon then +D3 attacks only getting 5 attacks max this is due to the fact that insane bravado don't work with with bloodclaws special rule stating they get +2 attacks on the charge it is either you get D3 attacks or the +2 not both. just some thing to think about :P

I would build them to give some options, use five to make some HQs/Arjac/Lone wolves. The rest can then be used as WG. Also remember that not all the WG in a pack have to be in TDA, you can mix in some PA guys and still take the heavy weapon options.

As for the actuual load outs, well I went with the rule of cool for pretty much most of my WG unit. A couple got combi weapons, two got support weapons (CML/AC) and the rest were a mix of hammers, storm bolters,SS, PF, CF and some big choppy axe/power weapons. That gives me the options to run them as a pack, as a pack with PA guard and split them off to be pack leaders(either in TDA or PA)

I'm still learning what works best for me, so I can't help with saying what the best load outs are.

I have over thirty full magnetized TDAWG models, it's a pain and also a labor of love. It makes the models easier to paint as well!! :)

As far as what to kit them out in, first think of what role you want them to play in your army. Sounds to me like you have the combat side down pat. I kit mine as fire support often, and that works well. A Cyclone Missile Launcher is a great addition to any five man pack. Assault Cannons are great if you are piling out of Land Raiders, but with that 24" range they are far from the fire support you'll need. The CML offers that.

Here is a come all unit I take often:

-5x TDA

-CML/Power Fist/Storm Bolter (Assault Cannon can replace the Launcher for the same point value)

-SS/WC

-Combi-Melta/WC (Combi-Plas is also good here)

-Combi-Melta/WC (Combi-Plas is also good here)

-Storm Bolter/Power Weapon

This gives you a bit of everything. It's good in a Drop Pod too!!

Remember you get to use your Wolf Guard as 'sergeants'. I like putting my TDAWG with CML/SS/ SB in with my Long Fangs (thanks magnets!!) for additional fire support and a nice invuln save.

End of Line
