King Willy
Are there any cases of the Raptors jamp packs being used by the modern imperium, is the design at all Imperium Friendly. Lost one of my jump packs but have a set of metal raptors i can rip them off. Honda
I would invoke the "rule of cool" in this case, because the Raptor jump packs are one of the coolest looking pieces of kit ever. Only recently with the BA winged jump packs is there a near equivalent. Olis
I'd disagree that the BA jump packs are on par with how cool raptor packs are, by quite a large margin (but that's a matter of opinion). Heresy era jump packs, though, do get close. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246677-raptor-jump-packs/#findComment-2985755 Share on other sites
King Willy
True, the Jump packs a one of the reasons i got a box of the otherwise Fail raptors. My other choice was going to be Sanguinary guard packs for my sargs and captain since I'm using one of the Glaive Encarmine for a relic blade but thought bout using the raptor packs since not to sure how wide spread they would be outside of the Blood angels Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246677-raptor-jump-packs/#findComment-2985785 Share on other sites
Grimdarkness
Fluff wise the raptor jump packs are mutated pre hearsay packs. But a sarge sporting one would be cool. Vodunius
Sculpt-wise they look far too uniform to me to be mutated. Fluffwise the Raptor Cult IA described them as being a non-STC design that the Imperium has lost the ability to maintain let alone manufacture - but I see no reason why a few chapters might not have a few kicking around. (it was described as being pretty much superior in every way to the STC design which was rediscovered post-heresy) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246677-raptor-jump-packs/#findComment-2985945 Share on other sites
King Willy
Sweet as I might use one for one of my sergeants while the other gets the wings with captain. One for a tech specialist, the other for a Emperor Fanboy. MadMardigan
I've got a chaplain with a raptor pack... but then again, the chaplain is also based on Maugan Ra, so what do I know. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246677-raptor-jump-packs/#findComment-2986166 Share on other sites
MadMardigan
Sorry to bump this thread I killed, but I've gotten my photo-taking area more sorted out, if anyone wants an example. Sorry it's a bit washed out, I need to work on my background, and get a decent photo-editing software. Also, don't mind the dust and the unfinished base. Keep in mind this is a fervent believer in the emperor, a champion of his will... not some filthy, vile xenos. ~MM Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246677-raptor-jump-packs/#findComment-2993037 Share on other sites
Coopervisor
I've actually used the raptor backpacks on a vanguard squad I started. Can't find any photos of them, but can take some when I get home. I thought they'd work due to the heroic intervention rule, which I thought would need customised jump packs compared to the rest of my troops which use the standard version (random thought: do jump packs have version numbers like power armour, etc?).
