My new Assault Terminators

Greetings brothers! I read here more than I post, but I recently got done a conversion project I've been working on and I wanted to share. Below are some pics of my second Assault Terminator squad. I bought a box of Grey Knight Terminators to use the heads for the knightly helms and, after much deliberation, the bodies as well as I like the sleeker design for assault termies. I got the BT shoulderpads and Storm Shields off Forgeworld, and some Lightning Claws from a friend who wasn't using them. And after painting them all day yesterday, here's the result.

Thanks! ;) Lockdar, the hammers had the inquisitorial =][= on each facing. I simply them off/filed them down. Most of the legs and torsos had GK iconography which i clipped and filed down to replace with BT seals or icons. It was fearly easy. I am always amazed by Forge World's quality. This is my first time using their BT-specific shoulder pads and storm shields, and I am absolutely blown away by the quality of the molds.

I like the idea you are going for here.

The poses are awesome, are those forgeworld shoulders? I like the looks of those better than the GW BT upgrade box.

My C&C would be to highlight the raised edges some how/some way. You need something to help break up and define various features on the model.

The sea of black allows a lot of the finer details on the models to be lost without any contrasts.

Have you considered doing some highlighting fine highlighting and washes on various parts to help make them stand out a little more? With the silvers, you could try bolt gun with badab black, followed by a mithril silver or chainmail silver drybrush over the edges to make them stand out. The armor edges could be done with astronomicon grey followed by codex grey and fortress grey in finer lines each time. Time consuming but its my own spin on highlighting. Dry brushing with tamiya weathering powders can help as well, seal those with a matte varnish.

The green eyes are a good start but they also need something to give them a little more depth. They look like they are very flat. A slightly lighter version of the green you used with maybe a little lens flare dot would help set them off. Follow up the lenses with some varnish to make them look like they are a lens will help too. Were you trying to do some object source lighting with the helmet lenses?

The linens/parchment bits look really fresh, like they just came out of the washing/dryer fresh. Again, some light washes(devlin mud or gryphonne sepia) followed by a drybrush highlight can help show that weathered look to them.

They are the FW shoulders. The details are absolutely amazing. And I do intend to highlight them at some point. I've recently been finding time to paint hard to come by, so they'll probably stay as they are for awhile unfortunately. Thanks for the tips Brother Merc.
