angry man
does anybody have any ideas about how chaos warbands differentiate between members of different squads?? codex loyalists have squad numbers - is there an 'canon' equivalent for chaos marines, Word Bearers in particular? thanks AM Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246712-squad-markings/ Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
Yes and no. The Word Bearers would probably have markings due to how organized they are but for everyone else it's pretty much the squads are made up of warriors who are used to fighting with each other as seen in the Night Lord series. TheDarkApostle
Following Anthony Reynolds Dark Apostle novel the Word Bearers are cannonly grouped into different "coterie". Which is actually just medieval french for "an exclusive group", or "a group of people who associate closely". :P In the books they are grouped into first coterie, second coterie, third coterie and so on, however as far as I can remember there's not actual description whether they have any visual markings marking them as part of the group. Which leaves it completely up to us (the players) if we want to mark them with a traditional gothic number, or if we want a "chaos corrupted" version of a number (like the HQ, elites, troop, fast attack and heavy support marks), a chaos rune of some kind or another or some other completely made up heraldry marking unique to that participial squad (kind of like how the Space Wolf packs do), or even something completely else.
