Liquidice
Garro recruited some guys between Rubio and Loken, I'll have to give the audio drama another listen. I do not however think anyone else in the UM will make it to Titan before Malcador hides it from reality (If that doesn't get changed) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246794-ollanus-piouss-role/page/2/#findComment-2989502 Share on other sites
Apothecary Vaddon
I have a vague recollection of most of the GK startup guys being named somewhere. I think it may have been on one of the author blogs. Elric the Silvercoat
Did anyone read the last of the Ultramarines series. They had an Athame in it aswell from the battle of Calth that Know no Fear is basic off of. I thought that was a shard of the actual xenos anatheme? It sounded like it anyway. It was described as a primitive flint dagger so I am not sure. It didn't say if it was an Athame or an Anatheme in the Chapter's Due so it could have been either one. Anvilarium
Wait, where was that revealed about Hawser ? It wasn't, I misremembered it, sorry! Although he does seem to have lived a very long life prior to his enhancement by the Vlka Fenryka. He speaks of the Old Night, lives all the way through the Reunification Wars and into the Great Crusades. How many years is that in total? He claimed to be approx. 75 when he went to Fenris to study the Vlka Fenryka, but it must have been longer IMHO. Also, theres his ability to speak almost any language which seems to come from nowhere (John Grammaticus also has this ability), and the unexplained voices that speak to him in the darkness during the 19 years he is in suspended animation in the Aet. They could be taken as his previous lives speaking to him. im pretty sure that grammaticus was given the ability to reincarnate by the eldar, not as a natural ability he was born with, so i dont believe him to be one of the sensei. im also unsure to hawser being immortal natturally too... As far as Ollanus goes, that could be debateable, and would certainly be a great plot line in the final confrontation... This is all true, however - prior to his death and reincarnation by the Eldar Autarch Slau Dha, Grammaticus meets the Emperor in person, and he recognises him as a vastly powerful psyker and offered to speak further to "consider the options available to beings like us". Grammaticus also speaks to Oll Persson in Know No Fear, and says "there are only a few of us left in the universe" - he's basically saying that he and Oll are cut of the same cloth. Also, Eldar are cunning, tricksy manipulative Xenos scum - its entirely plausable that the Eldar did nothing to Grammaticus other than be there when Grammaticus ressurected himself, and then claimed credit for it in order to get John to work for the Cabal. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246794-ollanus-piouss-role/page/2/#findComment-2989783 Share on other sites
dcye
He wasn't one of Garro's few, though? IIRC Rubio was the only UM and he was recruited after Calth. He might be affiliated with the Inquisition later on, but I don't see how he could be one of the beginning members. I was sure Rubio was recruited during the Battle for Calth, not after? Apothecary Vaddon
I'm not sure, I haven't listened to any Garro audiobooks in ~1/2 a year, so my memory is fuzzy. Perrin
Haven't read KNF so this theory might already have been disproven. Is it possible that the Emperor, John Grammaticus and Ollanus Pios are the leftovers of some Old One experiment? Similar to the Emperor creating the Primarchs, the Old Ones created the shamans who reincarnated to become the Emp, or the Old Ones created some sort of old one+human hybrid, and the ancient earth shaman were hybrids, and John + Pious have small strands of hybrid DNA inside them? I like the idea of some humans or possibly eldar being descended from Old Ones. Please also bare in mind... its very late :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/246794-ollanus-piouss-role/page/2/#findComment-2990242 Share on other sites

I just checked and he was, which was why it was so hard for him to leave and why he was so bitter towards Garro.
