[Commission] Blood Angels Assault Squad

First squad of three done. Damn decals took FOREVER to set properly. I still see the odd crinkle. By comparison I freehanded the skulls on the kneepads in about 25 minutes.

The skull kneepad indicates 1st squad, which is normally Tactical. I hope the client doesn't mind, as I think it looks good. Otherwise I'll repaint appropriately.

Not to be harsh but Who is the sergeant???

The sergeants of the BA have inverted shoulder pads colors, black with red trimmings instead of red with black trimmings)...

I guess the sergeant is the guy with plasma pistol but having assault squads the option of plasma pistols for regular troopers there is nothing that shows the rank on the sergeant apart some spikes on his helmet...

This is a GREAT painting job but it's ruined by this pair of few errors that makes the squad incomplete... Pity...

Edit: i see now that ONE shopulder pad have the inverted color... this is correct but both shoulder pads should be inverted... And i would repaint the kneepads with assault squad marking (the lightning...)

5th company inversion would remove the company mark from the pad, or require that it change colour to red. So it wasn't done.

There are 3 assault squads in the force, each led by a sergeant. Standard Codex Astartes indicates only 2 per battle company. The third would have to be drawn from a different company, or be a re-tasked Tactical squad. In short, yeah, that's a mistake, but the client doesn't care, and neither do I particularly. :-) The other 2 squads will be correctly marked.

Not be harsh, but if you can't figure out it's the dude with the power weapon .....

99.9% of players either don't know or don't care about inverted shoulder pad colors for BA sergeants.

Paint job is fantastic. Really like the bases and subtle use of battle damage.

Gently suggest to your client that not taking a meltagun for every 5 ASM is really stupid idea.

The helmets are iyanden darksun, sepia wash, VMC Flat Yellow, VMC Light Yellow edges, VMC Ice Yellow extremes. No mixes, just layering.

The sergeant's chapter icon is a yellow decal, sepia wash to knock it back a bit, then VMC Flat Yellow and Light Yellow to highlight.

Yellow decals on black (unless white-backed when printed) look awful.
