nastyfantastic
Ive decided I need a deathwatch army... I've been wanting to have one since g-dub put out their conversion pack. I've never free handed anything before, I'm hoping I get good at it before too long. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i449/nastyfantastic/54268b5f.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i449/nastyfantastic/0c574f37.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i449/nastyfantastic/d2df2217.jpg thanks for looking, I need to finish painting these guys, they're lack of smoothness and shading kinda irks me. any advice is welcome...i thought i would like the bases more, but I'm not quite sold on them yet. Dizz
Damn, that's some nice freehanding skills you've got there. To give the eagle and whatnot some depth you could use a heavy devlan mud wash or something, then highlight it with a lighter steel - that should make it jump out. As for the black you could just do some light grey highlights. I wouldn't take my advice as gospel truth though, I'm a bit of a noob  All in all, I like those models. Keep it up! Myxx
Nice work! I am doing a DW unit as part of my LPC vow, as are a number of other members here. I an actually using a number of pre molded pads for mine. As well as some transfers from the tac squad set. But your free hand work is great! Keep it up, I look forward to seeing more... nastyfantastic
Hey thanks! I'm trying to figure out what color I should paint the connective parts of the marine. I'm thinking I may just paint it the exact same color as the power armor, but instead of a flat coat use a gloss or a satin for those areas. I plan to use pre-molded shoulder pads as well as freehanding them. Normally I wouldn't be able to handle looking at the inconsistency across the army, but, I think a deathwatch army will be an exception. I've opted to go for the black trim around the chapter shoulderpad as opposed to painting the entire pad with chapter colors in order to minimize the rainbow effect all the different pads will have. Does anyone have any ideas as far as squad markings? I considered using the knee pad and putting a differing slash, dash or whatever to show squads. I'm also in need of advice as to what direction to go for scouts. I want a scout squad in a LS-Storm and a acute bike squad. I'm thinking I'll go the route of converting cadian rough riders, but using them as a scout bike squad, and using some elysians as the scouts coming out of the storm.
