History

The 1st Chapter Master of the Fists of Dorn was Etheon Runeatos, a former 1st Company Senior Sergeant of the Crimson Fists. He and Chaplain Herman Gortrord, Epistolory Likon Fentorn and Techmarine Jovian Hortol became the leaders of the Chapter, replacing their old crimson and blue livery with the white and black trim of their new chapter. The fledgeling Fists participated in various battle in support of other Dorn descendant chapters, and then eventually, when their numbers became large enough, went off on their own. They carved out a legend for themselves, even inadvertenly aiding Grand Master Loken of the Grey Knights, who decided against mind wiping the entire chapter, and let the Fists know of the existence of the Grey Knights. Both chapters have since fought alongside each other various times.

When the Fists of Dorn aided the Black Templars in purging an Ork infested world whose name is now lost to history, the chapter lost their Chapter Master. The Templars, sighting the Ork Warboss, charged into the horde, leaving the small force of Fists alone and surrounded. Much of the chapter were away aiding the Ultramarines in a distant sector, leaving Runeatos and his small half company against a horde of Greenskins 100 times that number. As his men died around him Runeatos sent a vox message to the Freedom's Hope, the Chapter's only Battle Barge at the time. The Captain of the Battle Barge sent in all the gunships he had at his disposal, some even sent in with human serfs at the controls as he had so little marines left to him. The gunships stove off the Orks around the Chapter Master's body. The apothecary Thunderhawks landed, retrieving the bodies of the fallen, and to their delight, the still living Chapter Master. The Thunderhawks lifted off, ordering an orbital bombardment on the Greenskin horde.

The Chapter Master lived on in the chapter's only Contemptor pattern Dreadnought, and still leads the chapter in major engagements. The Fists have never forgiven the Black Templars for abandoning Runeatos, and have refused to aid them on a number of occasions.

The Chapter's homeworld of DarkHelm is a heavily forested planet, dotted with independant Hive-Cities that supply all of the recruits for the Chapter. many of an aspirant's challenges to become a neophyte involve the jungles, which have been kept teeming and deadly by the chapter's wish. One of the aspirant's tasks is to help the local Arbites in aprehending a hive gang, showing combat skill and helping keep down crime.

The Chapter Fortress Monastry is known as The Veiled Keep to many of Darkhelm's human inhabitants. It is deep in the jungles of Darkhelm, hidden by deadly predators, the carniverous plantlife, and the sheer size of the jungles on Darkhelm. No one who wasn't allowed to know the location of the Keep does know it, preventing any would-be attackers if any did arrive on Darkhelm from finding the chapter's most sacred stronghold.

Tactics

Each Battle Company in the Fists of Dorn has slightly different tactics when it comes to war. The original Captains had very similar ideas, all coming from the Crimson Fists. However when the children of Darkhelm took command, the tactics changed. Chapter Master Helios gave the new Captains almost free rein with their choices when it came to attacking and defending. As Captains are chosen from the 1st Company only if they came from the Company were the vacancy is, so each Company sticks with the tactics it was taught as a newly raised brother. These tactics have been perfected over time, and as such each company has different attitudes to war. The 2nd Company, for example, prefer the Drop Pod assault with outflanking heavy armour and combat units. It is from this Company that the now Chapter Master Dornian Elioth was Captain of before he was raised to become the Lord of Battle, and as such that is usually the tactics he chooses when he goes to war. When a Chapter Master, with his large contigant of Honour Guard crash through the enemy's flank, the battle has yet to be lost.

The 3rd Company prefer a more ranged approach to war, often requesting high amounts of Sternguard Veterans which are worked into a fire line alongside the Companies other Battle Brothers, with heavy armour in support

The 4th Company usually use a mounted assault, with tactical marines mounted on bikes or in Rhinos and Razorbacks, cutting the foe down in one area, then moving to the next before any responce can be made.

The 5th Company are siege-specialists, using high amounts of flamer and melta weaponry from Drop Pod or Rhinos.

Sorry didnt get past the first paragraph. As far as I know the chapter master comes first. He would not walk into a room with a fully assembled chapter at his disposal. He is the first one tasked with building the chapter, giving them their name, etc. I would suggest looking over this quickly to make sure you are as close to the 40k fluff as possible.

Other than that I like the name. I would check to make sure it has not been used though. Dornian names pop up all the time.

Also read through the rest quickly and it seems to be more of a battle report. An IA is supposed to give an overview of your chapter through various sections and give the reader an idea of the character of your chapter and why they do what they do. You have some of that already in there but you just need to refine it in my opinion.

Hope that helps.

Read through it. It fits a little better now. You make a reference in the tactics section to how the inhabitants of Darkhelm change the character of the chapter, yet you dont tell much about the planet, its people, or how they do things. I think you could do well fleshing this out.

Other than that you do a good job of coming up with names of titles and relics. I would try to focus more on the beliefs and origins more too. What makes them different from IF of CF? Or are they really similar? Why do they do what they do? Is there some interesting characteristic about them?

Hope that helps.
