IA11 redmaw is now a monstrous creature

Wow, he just became much better.

I know!

i was going to ignore hiim because i saw the Redmaw version as a monsterous waste, but now he can hold his own against damn near anything i am revising my opinion.

WLK

I've purchased several other IA's in the past, but money is a little tight at the moment. Is there enough Space Wolves stuff in IA:11 to make getting it worth it? I've never regretted a Forgeworld purchase, but I would be sacrificing other stuff that I would need to rebuild my wolves.
Not owning the book, is there a good fluff justification as to why a Wolf Lord is a Monsterous Creature by rules?

Sure, he turns into a huge frakking Wulfen.

Well, I guess that is a legit reason for Monsterous Creature rules on him.

Seeing as I have the book...

How exactly does this all work now? Having MC means the Redmaw ignores armor, and Rending is then wasted on MotW. Eternal Warrior is just a nice safety net as well. I would say this much, he's pretty much an infantry base killing machine; he gets MotW extra attacks (1d6 + 1 for charging + base atks) and then all this? He's practically a steal now.

WHere does it say he has MotW? I've got my copy of it open in front of me, but I can't see it. If he does have it, he's nuts. You'd be looking at getting up to 12 attacks if you roll a 6 for his extra ones. I was wondering how resilient he'd be with only FNP to rely on, but I guess T6 and EW will keep him up for a fair while if he's in a pack of wolves.

For safety's sake, I was assuming he does. It wouldn't surprise me any that he lacks MotW as well; it may be another FAQ issue. I could have sworn he had it.

I will check later today, and can post my findings tomorrow.

EDIT - Ninja'd

Yeah, as strange as it sounds he doesn't have MotW. He doesn't really need it though - plenty of attacks and now he gets 2D6 armour penetration and ignores armour.

On a side note, I was discussing this in the other thread and wondered whether you'd all agree with this statement: As the new Monstrous Creature addition is described as being a 'Special Rule' it doesn't nullify his 'unit type' infantry status. So technically wouldn't you still be able to transport him once he's transformed?

Tough call, would you really want to see what happens to you or anyone after putting a rabid killing machine predatory creature into a large, metal box and tell it to behave?

Jurassic Park opening scene, anyone?

I personally don't see this as something that would make sense in the spirit of the rules; the letter says it's possible, unless in the BRB it says any model with MC is automatically also an MC model, not infantry.
