khurdur
I was wondering....just how similar are original primogenitor chapters and successors in traints and recruiting practices? eg..the ultramarines and mortifactors are both from guiliman, but are very different. My chapter are blood angel successors, the warriors encarmine. Can I make their fluff, recruitment and things different, like taking out the 72 hour wake over sanguinius statue, and recruiting from academies and simply finding gifted boys, and holding tournaments in the chapter recruitment areas? dswanick
It's your Chapter/your models/your imagination - you can make of them what you will. Others will like or dislike regardless of how closely you adhere or how much you differentiate your Chapter because some people like a unique and different story, while others dislike the "special snowflake" approach to 40k fluff. Chengar Qordath
I'd say that, aside from things directly relating to the gene-seed (like the Black Rage/Red Thirst), you're pretty much free to be as flexible as you want with your chapter's fluff/backstory. Just be wary of all the normal pitfalls of writing your own 40k fluff (in other words, don't write your chapter's fluff like Ward writes Ultramarine fluff).
