Khine
-thread necromancy so i don't have to make another one- I thought up some fluff for why we as Space wolves would have any sternguard units. Feel free to poke holes in the concept. We all know that the Deathwatch section of the Ordo Xenos enjoys stealing our marines for periods of time for their own gain. So it got me thinking, what happens to all the KT space wolves after they return to their mission? Do they get integrated back into their Great companies or do they become like lone wolves or wolf scouts? Do the Space wolves actually trust them on the return? My thoughts were that usually the Great wolf would be apprehensive about splitting up an entire pack with the whole half of you go here and the other half can stay. So they send entire grey hunter packs to the Death Watch. when they come back they aren't as well trusted by their former Great companies so they are brought into the folds of the Great wolves company similar to wolf scouts and then are formed into a unit of special Stern wolves. They would be still be acknowledged for their now notable combat prowess ( arguably DW marines are the best in the business ) and would become a formidable elite force that could be as a means to track down specific enemy targets. Wysten
I don't think it's that difficult. Modifying ammo for greater effect is something the Iron Priests tend to do and they are argueably the most detached members of the chapter (often more machine then man)and hence would do it as a natural course of action. After all, no sensiable minded chap would turn down the oppertunity to have flexable ammo, easpically right next to the eye of terror itself. Afterall we are marines, anything that helps us kill the foe is used and we are not exactly anti-codex in the sense that we don't take stuff because the codex says so, but rather what we found approiate in our area. That being said, I imagine a lot of people would get jumpy if the wolf guard recieved special ammo as well, as that would have the potencial to completely change their role and function again (At the moment, we have mass power armour basics and Cyclone and terminator/power armour melee mix as our most viable options.) might make people a little weary, easpically when the unit has a potencial for a lot of different dice to be thrown at them in a single squad of shooting.
